I've been playing guitar for a few years and bought this one entirely to paint. Unfortunately the body is not made of wood, it's some very light plastic composite or something.

The guitar actually plays well for such a cheap guitar, but beware if you're looking for a solid wood body. Definitely a good guitar to purchase for a kid, a beginning player, or as a disposable travel guitar.

This is an awesome guitar! It's a real guitar that comes already strung, although the strings are loose so you will have to tune it yourself. My daughter loves it. The only thing I didn't like is the strap is very cheap and not really useful so we are going to buy another strap for her. But the case is very nice and so is the amp.

I am an avid review reader so I take them seriously. First and foremost, know that we bought this blue 1/2 size kids guitar for our 5 year old. He is very musical. He is not a Buddy Guy, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Brad Paisley, etc...however, he has to start somewhere. As was suggested with previous reviews this is a great little guitar. However, you have to do a few things to get the full value of this guitar. 1) Purchase an additional amplifier. I bought, based on reviews, a Sawtooth 10 amp amplifier. It brought out the best sound quality for the guitar. 2) We bought a quality set of strings. 3) Though my wife plays guitar, she is accustomed to an acoustic. So we took it to a friend of ours that has played in a rock band since late 1960. He restrung, finely tuned and adjusted all the various things on the guitar to get the best sound possible. When we arrived at his house pre-Christmas to pick it up he was playing Deep Purple's "Smoke on the Water" through his amp system and it sounded wonderful. Do you truly have to go through all this with this guitar--probably not. Right out of the box we tuned it and played around on it with the provided amp. The only thing you probably really need to do is get an upgraded amplifier. The accompanying amp is alright if you leave the volume low. You can hear it at that volume. However, even the adults in the house were wanting more volume than the amp can provide. Now, given all this, I would highly recommend this guitar. The case, strap, pick, tools, and guitar of wonderful. It is now April and the guitar has held its tune and taken a 5 year old's abuse and plays on! We only upgraded because we are a musical family.

I bought this for my daughter as a gift to introduce her to guitar. While I had my doubts about her dedication to playing the guitar, I took the standard approach of buying a basic guitar, upgrading the strings to something a bit lighter and let her go at it.

For the money the guitar seems solid enough, it isn't heavy and the neck is slightly shorter than my Les Paul making it easy for her to play chords and slide.

And if she decides that guitar isn't her thing, then I haven't made a huge investment, AND - she doesn't touch MY guitar.

For the price and what you get, no serious guitar player would probably jump on this but for a young girl starting out, it is exactly what I was looking for.

This isn't a kit guitar where you get an amp. I didn't need that, nor would you need that if you are a Rocksmith player.

This is an adorable guitar and my daughter loved it! That being said the string quality is just ok so if you are able to upgrade those it is a steal. Also, this company sent me a free harmonica months later as a thank you for purchasing with them, top notch customer service!

Awesome product. Bought this for my son's 5th birthday because he seem to have a love for playing the guitar. Since he got it he plays it every chance he gets. Since I have no clue about the workings of a guitar I took it to a music store to have it tuned, the employee at the store thought I was lying about the price because of how good it sounded and felt.

Bought this for my daughter to test the waters on if she liked playing. The guitar itself was light and easy to manage for her. Her brother who has been playing for a few years tuned it up for her, and away she went. His only complaint with the quitar was the frets were a little rough on the strings, but for a beginner this should not be an issue. Overall very happy with the choice of this item as a starter guitar for my daught.
