This SPSS companion is a great starter book for those beginning statistical analysis. It goes step-by-step through the basics of SPSS and gives little reviews and assignments along the way. Practicing with SPSS is really the only way to learn it and this book lets you do that. This book was most likley assigned to you, but it was a good choice by your instructor. Learning a stats program, let alone stats, is difficult and this book makes it much easier.

Great textbook! Very easy to follow. Information is given in just the right quantity, not too repetitive to the point where it gets boring, but repetitive enough to help you remember. I have to admit that I enjoy the exercises in this book so much that I've actually worked ahead a few weeks in my data analysis class. Exercises are also very interesting and explore neat relationships.

Good book for introduction to political quantitative research. But I felt there could have been more to it. Perhaps more examples, data sets on the CD included. The CD is very limited. The chapters were pretty easy to follow but could have used graphics to make it easier to follow along and to reference back to find a particular section.

This is an excellent walk-through of how to use all the basic features of SPSS, with good explanations about what the outputs mean. I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a beginning and basic knowledge of how to use SPSS.
