I bought this product to switch between a U-Verse receiver and my DVD player. I have a fairly long run (over 50 ft) from my TV to the closet where my equipment is located. As soon as I plugged both systems into this switch, I immediately noticed signal degradation, especially on my DVD player. A power supply may have helped, but for some reason Monoprice doesn't include a power supply with this switch. They say that it is powered by the HDMI source, but if you have a long run, you will need it to be powered. After looking around, It was going to cost more to buy an individual power supply than it cost to buy the switch. It also did not automatically switch from one device to the other as it advertised. I had to manually switch it even if one device was completely powered off. I went to Radio Shack and bought a new switch (That Included a Power Supply)for the same price it was going to cost me just to buy a power supply for the old switch. The switch from Radio Shack works great without any signal loss.

UPDATE: I increased my rating to 4 stars and updated the review as I was able to get the device to do what I wanted.

I bought it to solve an HDMI sync problem I was having between my Home Theater PC, A/V Receiver, and TV. This was recommended to keep the other devices in sync when they were powered off and on. Initially I could not get it to help with the HDMI handshaking problem I had. After some trial and error I found that by powering on the DVR, Receiver, and TV and letting them all sync. Then disconnecting the TV from the Receiver and then plugging this into the path of the Receiver to TV I got it to work.

It has reduced my HDMI sync problems to a minimum. I have only had 2 instances in the month since I made the change.

My tv only has four HDMI ports and I needed one more to add my Xbox 360. Hook up is easy. Simply run an HDMI cable from the output on the switch to the tv and then two HDMI cables from each source to the input ports on the switch. Depending on which source is on, it automatically switches the tv to that source. Place your most important source on HDMI one on the switch, in my case my PS3. Switches flawlessly. No power adapter needed!

Works great! I love that it draws power from my receiver so I don't have to add any more power cords to the rat's nest of wires behind my entertainment center. Also automatically switches when a device is turned on but can be manually switched also.

I was hoping for a totally manual switch, but the Roku never shuts off, so it just bounces back and forth between 1 and 2 and then when I unplugged the Roku, my blueray player had no signal. This would probally work good with 2 devices that shutoff.

The description is somewhat misleading. it says It has an optional power output but, in reality it has an optional power inlet. No power supply is included. Even after I plugged in a power supply it still would not change over automatically from Sat. box to DVD player. It does work fine with the manual switch on the unit.
