It would have been most helpful if the description specifically stated this PVC plug does not fit inside a PVC pipe as I expected a "plug" to do. I was specifically looking for a 1" plug and not a 1" cap. The local PVC supplier only carried 1/2" plugs, so online I went. I was thankful when it was available on Amazon but very disappointed when it did not fit inside the 1" schedule 40 PVC pipe I had. The outside diameter of the plug was actually the exact same diameter as the outside of my 1" PVC pipe. It probably would work perfectly into a 1" PVC fitting or the bell end of a 1" PVC pipe, but that was not what I needed...

My son needed this plug for I think a "boom" he was constructing for a movie he and his friends were going to make. He got the idea from a video he saw on youtube that showed him how to build a boom. It of course is cheaper to build one rather that to buy a boom.

The "Spears 449 Series PVC Pipe Fitting, Plug, Schedule 40, 2" Spigot" is with out question, a good quality, PVC plug; however, it is not, by definition, a spigot. "4. the end of a pipe that enters the enlarged end of another pipe to form a joint". It is intended to fit inside a PVC fitting (i.e. a 2" coupling, a 2" elbow, etc.) and not the pipe itself.

Pros:
Solid construction
Tight fit with appropriately sized fitting.

Cons:
Requires additional fittings to perform its job.
Not exactly a spigot

Bottom line, I would recommend this item to anyone needing to seal off an end of a 2" PVC slip fitting, but not a 2" PVC pipe alone.

Note that the picture of this item has a hexagonal head. The head of the item they sent is round. The round head is harder to grab, twist, and pull-off if you are using this in a temporary friction-fit installation.

I got this little cap for a DIY water pump that I'm building, and it's perfect. For some reason, none of the hardware stores in my area had a plug of htis size -- just caps. The plug was what I needed so that my piston (on the pump) could move freely within the pump housing. Anyway: just what I needed and worked for me!
