Cane Creek labeled the 40-Series the "Workhorse" lineup. I really do agree! I have 110 models on two of my bikes, but the lower cup rusted out, and really only needed it as a temporary fix until I get the warrantied 110 back from Cane Creek. To me, the difference between the 110 and 40 series are probably only the cup weight. I feel confident in saying that it is just as smooth and has great sealing like the 110 but at about 1/2 the cost. For a budget performance "set and forget" item on the bike, you really can't go wrong. Is it a Chris King? No, but you're paying half the price of a Chris King. I previously worked in a shop for several years, and build bikes for friends, family and myself, and this is almost always the "go to" headset of choice for the quality and price.

I would say that if the bike is worthy of a Chris King (high dollar carbons and Ti bikes) buy it, but if you have a ceiling on your budge, buy this and save the money to invest into better wheels/tires. The product will serve you well!

Went the cheaper route and skipped Chris King for this. After a few rides, rust came oozing out! It now leans to the right and steering is a struggle! I now have to buy another headset. Do not buy this! Pay a little more for CK or others. They are worth it.
