If your a serious digital painter like myself you may want to read this review:

I have been painting in photoshop with a wacom pen tablet for almost 10 years now. I work professionally as a concept artist in the game industry and as a freelance digital illustrator. When I first bought my ipad ( with the intent of using to paint digital life studies only) an tried a few 'regular' styluses on it, I almost regreted my purchase. The experience was absolutely terrible, it was almost like a joke. Painting awkwardly on a thick piece of glass wasnt exactly yielding my desired results as it felt like no matter what I was doing it looks like it was done in ms paint. I really was getting annoyed with the 'feeling' that no matter how I was using the stylus nothing really made a difference.

Then I decided to research pressure sensitive styluses! I did decide to only try the pogo connect, based off of multiple articles and video reviews, and let me just say it has restored my faith in tablet painting. Its as good as its going to get right now for us artists. Its and im not kidding, its THE BEST stylus right now and worth every single penny you pay for it, FOR A SERIOUS artist.

WHY Its the best: Coming from my background, Iam used to pressure making a difference on the screen before me, so naturally I feel the same concept should apply on my ipad, especially now that there's touch invovled in my process. This pen took away the awkward annoyance of it all and applies the "yes" factor as you paint.

APPS: There are certain apps that also make great use of this device that surprisingly aren't procreate or sketchbook.
As soon as you get this amazing device, download the free pogo connect app from the app store.

I purchased this because I was looking for a pressure-sensitive stylus primarily for note-taking purposes. I am not a digital artist, but pressure sensitivity makes my handwriting much more legible in Noteshelf.

So does a narrow tip, which this unfortunately does not have. Being used to a Wacom Bamboo stylus, I found the broad tip to be unpleasantly like trying to use a dry-erase marker to take fine notes. The contact point perceived by the iPad is not intuitive, so it is nearly impossible to continue a line or hit a target previously written on the screen. While cursive is possible, printing requires a lot of practice, since your intuition is all wrong.

The bigger problem I had with this was pairing. It is extremely unreliable at connecting to a new app, and unreliable at connecting to one it's already paired with. I have been unsuccessful at making it pair with a new app without rebooting the iPad and pulling the pen battery first- killing apps previously using the pen did not actually suffice, much to my surprise and displeasure. Paring with an existing app is hit-or-miss; my pen often goes into a "failure loop" where it spends a few seconds connecting, the app reports it as having connected, and then immediately disconnects and starts over. Flailing about aimlessly by killing apps, putting the pen into pairing mode (six second button hold), and general retrying usually works, but sometimes pulling the pen battery and/or rebooting the iPad is required. I haven't figured out any rhyme or reason to what's needed or what's successful in fixing the issue.

If you are already used to broad-tipped styluses and will be using this in a single app, there's nothing wrong enough with it for me not to recommend it, and its better reliability, pressure range, and texture compared to sliding-disc stylii is good enough. If you use several apps, or are really thrown off by a broad pen tip, do not use this pen; pick up a competitor instead.

I'm an artist who uses a Cintiq and other Wacom products in my studio daily; I'm writing this mostly for other artists who are shopping around. Bottom line: Pogo's new pen is just a step away from using a standard iPad stylus.

I bought the pen mostly for the "you can keep your hand on the screen while drawing" selling point, but apparently my usual pen drawing position (which lifts my hand off from time to time for brush strokes) causes a break from apps quite a bit. Yes, if you can keep your brush pressed to the screen, remove your hand, then remove the brush, it will work as promised (it won't notice your hand). I just ended up shifting canvases around a lot with my palm.

The connectivity seemed ok - hard to tell aside from Pogo's app as none of the apps I used ever confirmed I was connected to any pen or device. There were drop outs where I had to quit back to the Pogo pen app to make sure it was reconnected.

It's not like the Adonit with the plastic disc point; you will be using the big soft crayon tip again which obscures precision. And it's not going to act like a Wacom pen and give you any sort of *subtle* shifts in pressure. If you think of it in five stages (light, medium, heavy, heavier, heaviest!) that's about what you'll be getting out of the pen for levels of sensitivity.

So, is it solving the iPad's lack of pen pressure problem? No. I'd recommend for curious gadget heads only at this point.

(I tried this with Brushes, Sketchbook, Procreate and Zen Brush)
