My 8 year old son wanted a Skylanders Giants birthday cake, but we couldn't find one anywhere. I ordered this topper and our local bakery made the cake for us. It looked great! Very colorful, excellent quality. This topper is made to fit a 1/4 sheet cake, but we had it put on a 1/2 sheet cake. I uploaded a picture so you can see it on a 1/2 sheet. My son was thrilled, and his friends loved it!

I am not a professional baker/dessert chef, so I was skeptical that I would be able to pull this off. I put it on a 1/2 sheet cake and it fit perfectly so that I was able to write "Happy Birthday" on the bottom of the image once on the cake. I could not believe how easily this came off the paper! I rolled it briefly on the edge of the counter as suggested in the instructions and it just slid right off! The image is super bright and clear. It cracked slightly on a few edges, but I'm thinking that's because I put it on a cake that I had just taken out of the freezer and I did not give the icing any time to warm up a bit, as the instructions suggested. I was so anxious to see if it would work I couldn't wait lol. But it still looks awesome and no one will notice. I told my kids that it was an "edible image" but once they saw it on the cake, they really couldn't believe it was edible- that's how great it looks. The product came with in-depth instructions as well, and trouble-shooting tips.

This was the most frustrating purchase I've ever had with Amazon. The reviews said it was so easy, no problem. Yeah right! If anyone could ever do this then I must have received an expired one or something. There is no way this thing was ever going to peel off the backing. Here I am on the morning of my son's birthday freaking out with this stupid thing. It just crumbles and tears-no peeling happening at all. Of course I read the instructions a million times in my desperation and brought my neighbors and friends over to make sure I wasn't crazy. We all tried everything! No one could believe this horrible product. Ruined my son's cake with no time of course to get a new one.
Trust me, just go to the grocery store and pick something out and have them decorate the cake for you because there is nothing worse than having a disaster right before the birthday. My worst idea ever.

Oh...and I forgot to mention even though the title of the product is "Personalized Image" they actually DO NOT personalize at all. After your purchase and send them your kids' name the company will write you back saying "Sorry, we don't personalize anymore." I think it is wrong they haven't taken this out of the ad.

Product came in less than a week and is very nice. I haven't used it yet to say how easy it is but it's basically just peel and stick. The directions say it is good for 3 months, I ordered it a month early due to not knowing how long it would take and was very surprised on the fast shipping.

Update:

So I used the image this weekend and it came right off of the paper after I put the item in the freezer for 60 seconds. The only downside is that you can not cut this item with a butter knife, even with a "real" knife it was fairly difficult to cut so we just ended up removing it from the cake and cutting the cake.

I told the kids it was edible so they each ate a piece and it did not have much of a taste other than paper.

I am giving this a 4.5 because the order came quickly and it was not an Amazon Prime Order. The image was crisp and vibrant. I used it on a cupcake/cake arrangement and it worked perfectly. I did not have any problem separating it from the backing and attaching to the whipped icing. The colors did not bleed. The half point is that it would have been nice to have a dialogue box or comment section were you could personalize the image. I would have need a full sheet cake to personalize for my son's birthday, but since he and the other kids were thrilled with Skylanders they didnt miss the words.
