This unit does the trick and is very easy to use (12x18 room). Great that he can set the temperature, but I wish there were two temperature options like a regular thermostat - one for night when he is the room, one for the day when he is at school.

The Heat Storm HS-1000-WX Deluxe Wall Heater has a lot going for it. But before I get into the features, let me mention a few things that you should consider before selecting this one.

It is designed to be wall mounted. It is not designed to be free standing. Also it is not designed to be used in bathrooms or laundry rooms – anywhere where there is high humidity. It should not be mounted near any objects that could create a fire hazard – such as curtains, upholstered furniture, etc.

The unit works very well when used as intended. It should be wall mounted and installation is very easy. There is included a leveling device. The unit heats up rather quickly. I would not describe the forced air fan as whisper quiet, but it is not so loud as to be annoying.

You can take the heater down once winter is over but you will still have the mounting screws to deal with.

It will heat a small room – probably maximum 250-300 square feet. It is not an energy hog, so it will be fairly economical to run. It comes with a remote control which is a nice feature.

There is a 3 year manufacturer’s warranty.

All in all, this is a fairly nice wall mounted unit. It heats quickly, has a remote control and a digital thermometer. Good for small rooms but be cautious where you mount it and pay close attention to the instructions concerning places not to mount it.

When our kitchen/DR were remodeled, we lost the heat duct going to our half bath. The Heat Storm makes this a non-issue, keeping the room warm with modest electrical use. Sure, it would be nice if it had a timer, but that's true of so many appliances, and for the cost on Amazon, I can't complain. The thermostat works well, it's very quiet, and the heat cycle seems well timed (it doesn't cut on and off rapidly). The unit does not seem hot to the touch, minimizing concerns about burns should a child (or adult) touch it.

We had a GFCI installed right where we wanted it to go, so there is minimal exposed wiring.

Quiet, effective in camping trailer and very satisfied. Unit worked great for 4 months from purchase but the heater then developed problems. After "14 Emails" over two month period of try this, try that Heat Storm finally said the control board had failed and they would send me a new one. Three weeks, no part, called and was told no problem, my receipt had been received, and shipping approved. Four additional weeks, no part. The unit is great if you have a good one but if it fails do not expect the three year warranty to be honored, just a lot of runaround.

Pros:
The heat works good on this little heater.
I like how it mounts on the wall so easily.
Lower energy consumption than other heaters I looked at.

Cons:
It makes a loud clicking noise quite often.
The fan comes on all the time and seems to be getting worse. (It's supposed to cool the unit after heating, but it will come on randomly when the heater hasn't been on for hours.)

2 stars because it gave me two big problems: First, although I set the digital thermostat to a certain level, it didn't shut off when it reached that level. Or, strangely, it would shut off, only to have the fan (no heat) turn back on again within 20 seconds, and then turn on and off every few minutes, even when the thermostat said the temperature was at an acceptable level. It also, on occasion, refused to turn on.

The base of the heater is at a sharp angle and cannot stand up on its own. This was done on purpose so that you didn't get the itch to dual purpose this heater and use it as a space heater in another room. (It is so tall and thin I imagine this would be a fire hazard, as when I tested it on the ground --pointing up-- it did not turn off automatically. Putting that into perspective, this is a GREAT design. It's like making a toy too big for an infant's mouth -you effectively design away the danger. Nice.

Anyway, this is a modern looking, and very simple to install heater. It comes with the required hardware to hang it, and, most conveniently, comes with a temporary/disposable level with holes in ends which show you EXACTLY where to drill the screws so that the unit is perfectly level on the wall. Very nice.

It also is pretty intuitive to use, and comes with a remote control to adjust the heat from across the room. (And conveniently, the batteries are included).

The display on this thing is extremely generous. HUGE, and I mean HUGE numbers are displayed which you can see from across the room. This is EXACTLY what I want to see from a heater I have tucked in a well under-heated laundry room in near darkness.

The cord on the back initially seems too short but give it a hard pull and it extends a couple more feet. It is not as long as I would want it, as you have to be pretty close to an outlet to mount it, but I imagine this is also designed for safety. You cannot have the risk of tripping on the cord, were it to be long enough to touch the floor, because the heater would probably fly right off the wall and crash to the floor.
