I have had mild to severe reactions to some of the metals used in some earring wires. I have bought earrings with surgical stainless steel posts or wires in the past and those have worked well for me. I happen to be a materials characterization engineer, so I ran an elemental analysis on one of wires I received in this order. The main components of 304 type stainless steel (aka surgical stainless steel) are iron (66 to 74 wt. %), chromium (18-20 wt. %), and nickel (8 - 10.5 wt. %) with minor amounts of other elements. These claim to be gold plated surgical steel. Analysis results for one of the wires in the package, using SEM/EDS, showed the composition to be copper (89 wt. %), zinc (8 wt. %) and iron (2 wt. %). (The weight percentages in my analysis have been normalized to 100%. I wasn't interested in the minor constituents, only in determining whether these were actually the material that seemed to be advertised.) The wires arrived in a timely manor and were smaller than I had expected. These are not what I was expecting to receive - though if you read the product description carefully, they do not use the word stainless. There was no detectible gold.

The only way these will work is if you change your ear wires after each wearing. I wore one pair two times and the "22k gold plating" is already rubbed off. Very disappointed.

These earring hooks are very, very fragile and bend very easily. If you are working on a project and you have to tear down the earring, the wire bends very easily. I was having trouble putting together a set of earrings and had to handle the earring more than usual, and it bent. So I had to throw that set away and start all over again.

I think these hooks would be good for a temporary fix if you have a set of earrings break, but for longer use, you might want to try something else.

this was supposed to be 22k gold plated surgical steel hypo-allergenic earing hooks.Big, Big dissappointment.Let me be brief I have been brought into disrepute as all the earings that i have made have been returned and i had to refund cash.I am very distraught and my jewelry "bubble" burst.This seller was very cooperative when the first set ordered came with some silver looking ones,this should have been a sign that something was wrong and i should not have accepted a replacement.

Most of the earwires were fine, but more than 15% were not. Some were missing the balls, some the coils. A great many are not the same length. Many had mangled balls. They were packed well, so it probably wasn't shipping issue. Seller was "Keybargains".

These look nice and I suppose the price was right, but when you wear them, the gold finish wears off where your skin touches. The finish oxidezes off, I guess. Not sure how I feel about selling these to people :/
They're very nice and shiny gold looking before you wear them.

If you want to save money on earring hooks, but still have the great look of gold, you should buy this earring hooks. They are so pretty, great shape, and easy to work with. Look like gold, but they are more affordable. I made lots of earrings set, using small and medium size beads. I'd buy this product again.

I have super super sensitive ears. Ever since I was really young I had to wear special sensitive type earrings. I recently bought a pair of earrings that I fell in love with but were not hypoallergenic. The girl at the store gave me the idea, and after reading a few reviews, I picked these. GREAT choice in my opinion. The hooks are bright and shiny, they arrived promptly, and I've been wearing them for over four hours and no allergic reaction! This gets an A+ in my book, would gladly buy from them again!
