I was looking for a shower that would help me with my generally weak water pressure. I had been using CVS store brands, which didn't really help, and then I found a ZenFresh unit (previously reviewed) which increased the water flow, but (1) did so by making the spray fine and "spiky," which is ok on an adult's skin but may not be comfortable for children or anyone with a skin condition (like sunburn - the spray would be too harsh), and (2) required the hot water to be cranked all the way up, as the fineness of the spray dissipated the heat. That shower head developed a crack after a few months, so into the trash it went.

Wirecutter recommended this Delta model as their number 1 choice. I took a chance and ordered it, and it is the best home shower I have ever had! The water comes out in fat, wet drops, truly like being in a warm tropical rain. It is forceful but the drops are big, so it's gentle on your skin. There is a removable handheld unit embedded in the showerhead, which is controlled by pushing the silver button (circled in green on my photo) - one press is off, one is slower, and the other is more forceful. I originally thought you pressed that button to detach the showerhead, but it's for water pressure.

The more important control to know is the one on the neck of the unit, which controls whether the water flows to the handheld unit spray, the surrounding unit spray, or both sprays. The instructions are not clear on this, so on the photo I indicated with the red arrow that the lever should be pointing at the back wall to have water flow to both parts, handheld and wall-mounted. The lever can be moved into a higher or lower position (indicated by the yellow dotted arrows), but that shuts off water to one of the two sprays. The best everyday position is straight at the back wall, as noted.

So I received this thing from Amazon today and installed it in the master bath (no problems, less than 5 minutes). I waited until the wife got home from work to try it out. All I can say is that until this day, my life was not complete. My wedding day, my kids being born, all nothing compared to this. You, like me, have probably spent you life standing in the shower with only one shower head and a single column of water like some kind of f'ing savage. This shower head is like Mother Nature squirting love in your face, your hair, your body and in my case the bathroom floor until I recovered from my shower bliss coma and realized that I hadn't closed the curtain. You want this shower head. You need this shower head. I want to buy 5 just so I can keep one with me at all times. If you doubt this review, slap yourself and think again. This is one amazing shower head. Oh, the wife liked it too for the 30 seconds I allowed her to use My Precious before I pushed her out of the shower and stood under the golden flow of my new true love.

Replacing an old plastic Water-Pik showerhead, this item delivers in spades. My variant in stainless finish has a metal shell, plastic inerds, a stainless flexible hose and substantial stainless screw on fittings. There is a three position diverter at the juncture where the wand hose attaches to the main body; 1) halo, 2) halo and wand head 3) wand head only. The wand head has a push button on the wand handle which allows me to select 1) hard pulse from the center of the wand, 2 ) soft pulse from the center and spray from the wands ring around the center, 3) slow drible from both the center and the ring on the wand, (not sure whether this is defective yet or what. I'll update later. UPDATE: all I can figure is for you to use this setting to turn off the wand rather than to change the diverter).

The thing that sets this shower head apart is when the diverter is set to head(halo) and wand, and the wand is set to both spray and soft pulse....you feel like you're in a hard rain....you are engulfed in water....Fantastic. And the wand head rests magnetically and snaps into the center of the larger stationary ring. This provides a frim attachment of the wand to the head(halo) but will take me a little getting used to. Pls note, the magnetic attachment alone will Not hold the wand head. It really only helps guide the wand head into position and helps take the weight of the wand head off your hands as you 'snap' the wand into place. The ONLY thing the old Water-Pik had going for it was the ease with which you returned the wand to its' attachment point.

My wife suggested this type of 'large ringed showerhead' when she used one in a hotel on a trip we took together. I don't remember that showerhead but this one is wonderful and she's elated, (we're older...Read more ›

There are two things I really like about this shower head:

The first is that "H2Okinetic" does in fact work as advertised. It makes a low-flow shower head (required under law) feel like a high-flow shower head. I don't really understand how it works; something about wobbly drops.

The second is that the shower head is not creating this perception the way most shower heads do, by using aeration (mixing in air). The problem with that method is that cold air mixed with the hot water and cools it down, forcing you to use a higher temperature water to begin with.

The reviewers who say it is all metal are either wrong, or have earlier versions with no plastic. The unit I received in August 2013 clearly has some plastic parts, though most are metal. Also, the hand unit isn't completely held in by magnets, there is also a clip at the bottom that holds the handle in. This clip seems to do the majority of the holding work; the magnets seem to mostly guide the unit in.

So it's not all metal and the magnet thing is a gimmick, but far more importantly the bottom line is that this shower head feels like it is using a lot more water than it is, your hot water lasts longer.
