Just got this from FedEx today and had it up and running about ten minutes after I got home from work. I bought it after a lot of online research and ordered based mostly on reviews of the Sangean WR-2 because there was not much out there on this radio. My wife and I are using this radio in the bathroom as a replacement to an aging ihome iPod dock/fm that worked but has been demoted to the outside/project radio. Hopefully using it in the bathroom will not cause it any problems. One shower down so far with no problems. The radio is small but really sounds great. No stereo unless using headphones, but still loud, clear and really full. It can handle bass really well and I noticed a big difference with the rear bass port pointing at the wall. The radio can fill the whole first floor of my house and sound good doing it. Controls are good and easy for the normal stuff with other functions tucked away behind push and holds and wheel scrolling. Had to refer to the book a couple times but otherwise it was a breeze. Our iPhones paired easily and sounded great. Have not used the USB port for music and probably won't but it does charge an iPhone. This feature only works with the radio on and set to USB/bluetooth/Aux input. The book says when you use it for charging that it lowers the power to the speaker at higher volumes, but I did not hear any change at medium volume. This unit seems well made and high quality. I am excited to use it for what will hopefully be a long time.

Forgot to say but the black model I got is all black. The wood case has a nice shiny think coat of black paint. Think I saw it referred to somewhere as piano black.

I restore Old tube radios and have built High fidelity tube amps and preamps for years. I love tubes and while they can do absolute magic if implemented right, so can solid state. This little radio is proof of that. This radio was built in Nov. 2013, and came packaged really well. Included was the power cord,remote, fm wire attenna ( gold plated- nice touch), the manual in book form and a small silica gel pack in the foam wrapping around the radio- (again a nice touch.) The radio sat in a thick two piece egg carton type support packing inside the box. I do not see this with most electronics. (most are styrofoam fitted on the ends). All of this is quality packaging. I Like.

The build quality is flawless. Fit and finish is perfect and no scratches. I attached the supplied attenna, threw the switch to external and fired it up. My first impression was that there is no way this little guy is going to sound that big but I was pleasantly suprised.From top to bottom is great. Maybe a little bassy for some, but I like a good solid bottom end and this thing delivers. It replaced my old 1959 Zenith H884 tube radio on the kitchen counter. It just does a better job. I did not program the alarms yet, but everything else is a breeze. I hooked an i pod in the aux. and fed music through. It works and sounds fine. I have not done anything with the blootooth yet.

Like other reviews show, the FM has good selectivity (on par with my 12 tube pilot 670), and excellent sensativity. The Am is nothing to write home about. A pocket radio may do as good,so maybe a good external antenna is needed. I do not listen to AM anyway. The Fm is where this thing shines.

When you turn the volume down to your liking, then sit down 10-15 ft. away, it seems like it is a bit louder.Read more ›

I was looking for a small stereo for my office and really liked the fact that I could stream music wirelessly from my iPad and Android phone. I wanted another Boston Acoustic stereo that I have at home but discovered they don't produce any longer. After reviewing all of the reviews and great price I decided on the Sangean WR--22BK.

The seller shipped the item really quickly. Upon arrival it was packaged really well. Out of the box the set up was really simple, unit is together and only thing I had to do was plug in AC cable and external FM antenna. I was impressed by the reception of this unit as it pulled in FM signals not usually accessible. Once I figured out how to pair my iPad and phone using the Bluetooth it worked really well, much better than I thought. Also comes with a great little remote control.

The sound for me is good but not great. I do understand this is a small stereo and a one speaker unit, just based in the reviews I was expecting a little better.mmi also do not like the fact that the only options are Bass and Tone, -5 to +5. I did do some tweaking to my liking. Again, not disappointed for the price. After listening for a week + I can tell you that I am really enjoying.

I have on my office book shelf directly behind me where I sit. Does everything I wanted and then some. My only regret is I bought the all black unit....wish I bought the black front with the cherry cabinet. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a good small stereo for the kitchen, dining room, bedroom. What it's not is a main stereo for the home, not that it was intended that way. I would easily purchase again.
