I have a dual processor 16 core Opteron workstation setup (32 total real cores, not half 30% of a core hyperthreading cores like Intel!) I've been running these for several years now, and have been very happy with them. The workstation renders amazingly fast compared to my other Intel dual processor setups. I can't wait for the Zen-based 32 core Opteron chips to arrive in 2016! (They will support 64 threads each processor, so Intel will have no advantage anymore as far as full use of each core, plus the pummel Intel in number of cores.)

These are must-haves for heavy-duty rendering for 3D applications and Multiprocessor optimized Adobe Software, and so on. I wanted as future-proof a computer as possible, and am glad I went with these Opteron processors. Also, if you're in need of secure computing AMD is way better than Intel, Unfortunately, I can't go into detail why, but Intel is absolutely awful from a security standpoint. Get hacked much? You can be easily with Intel chips! At least AMD cares about your security. You can't go wrong with these processors.
