Update: Microsoft updated the Office 2013 license. You may now transfer the software to another computer that belongs to you, but not more than one time every 90 days (except due to hardware failure, in which case you may transfer sooner). If you transfer the software to another computer, that other computer becomes the "licensed computer." The Office 365 Subscription products work on up to 5 PCs, Macs, and select mobile devices without license transferability limitations.


Please note: This item does not contain a disc; it is a product key card that requires a download from office.com. See steps involved below:

1. Once you have placed your order and received your product key card in the mail, locate your product key on the backside of the included card.

2. When you locate the product key, follow the instructions on the card, and go to https://officesetup.getmicrosoftkey.com/ to download and install.

3. Enter your 25-digital product key as prompted.

4. Sign in or create a Microsoft account.

5. Select your preferred country and language.

6. From your "My Account" page with Microsoft, select the item that you want to install.

7. Click the "Install" button to begin your download.

At first I was a bit disgruntled after reading the reviews and realizing that I could not make this purchase and then use the product on ALL my computers. But, I purchased it anyway because I trust Microsoft Word and like it best as a word processing program. After receiving the product it became clear that I CAN use this product on all my computers through the 'cloud'. I can access my projects from any computer, in fact, via the internet - or I can choose to work on a project from the computer without using the cloud. It is not so bad... Microsoft may be greedy money grubbers, but they do have Word set up to be a versatile and workable product - and I could purchase it without purchasing the entire Office suite, which I don't need and would never use.

Although this form of software purchase is inexpensive, when it was installed I got headaches since the MS download website did not list this program. When I requested assistance, I was forced to pay an extra $150 for some MS authorized outside contractor to scan my computer.which was what I consider a scam. If you do purchase this version and attempt to download, the program is located under MS OFFICE and not MS WORD. It cost me $150 to learn this quirk. Shame on you Mr. Softy.

This is a great word processor, and is worth getting if you do much typing. It has a lot of really great features that make things easier than some of the free programs that are available. Buying just Word 2013 was a better option for me than buying all of office, since I don't utilize any of the other programs that are included.

I have to admit that getting it installed was a bit of a hassel. After an hour on the phone with customer support and letting them remote access my computer I learned that there is an issue with having the trial version (that comes with your computer) of Office 2010. It somehow makes you have an error when you try to install. However, that was the only issue, after getting that resolved the program works great and I love the new features that it offers.

I highly recommend it. 5 Stars!

I ordered this for my mother who is in her 70s and didn't need Excel, Powerpoint, etc. We had trouble installing it but made a phone call to their customer service and received wonderful service from a rep in India. He pinpointed the problem (a trial version of Word already installed was causing the trouble), remotely uninstalled it and installed the purchased version for us. We haven't had any trouble since.

I admit that I was hesitant to order a copy of Word 2013 after reading some of the reviews here complaining about problems downloading the product and troubleshooting with Microsoft.

But I took the plunge anyway, and I'm happy to report that the installation worked well for me. I received the product key two days after my order, entered the key at the MS site, and proceeded to download the new Word over a high-speed DSL connection.

Then my laptop took some two hours while a progress bar showed the installer "making some finishing touches" or words to that effect. During the installation, I set my laptop to full power (no timed shutdown) and took my senior nap! When I awoke, the installer was finally finished with its tweaking, and there was the new Word.

Or rather, there were the icons on the desktop for the old Word. I threw them in the trash bin, found the new Word in Windows 7's list of all programs, and put quick start links on the desktop and the task bar at the bottom of the screen.

The good news for users of Word 2007 like me is that Word 2013 works pretty much the same, with some new graphics including an animated logo opening the program. Most commands are on the tabs where they were before, so the learning curve for Word 2007 users should be pretty gentle. (Users of previous versions of Word, however, will have to spend an afternoon poking around, as I did back in 2007!)

It also appears that MS has finally fixed some bugs in this new Word that had led me to find the program less functional than previous editions. There had been a problem with the preview pane not working in the "Open File" command; that seems to have been repaired, and you can again look at files before you open them.Read more ›
