I purchased this to replace the original RC-STAT Heat 'N' Glo remote for my gas fireplace, which had started randomly turning on the fireplace once every few weeks.

After doing some research, I settled on this model because the timer would be more handy to me than the thermostat based control of the original RC-STAT, which I never used (for this reason, I didn't buy the TH model of the Skytech). and of course, I already had a 110v electrical outlet available, so I didn't need to purchase one of the Skytech models with the battery based receiver.

It took me a few minutes to detach the RC-STAT because of the heat shrink tubing that was previously used, but once I got that done, installing the Skytech was literally a 3 minute job, of which 2 minutes was wrapping electrical tape around the two connections. What made it really easy is the fact that the Skytech includes both male-female connectors pre-attached to each of it two wires. All I had to do was to remove one male sections on one of the connectors, so I ended up with one wire configured with a female tab connector, and another wire left as-is as a male tab connector, and just attached them to the corresponding tab connectors on my fireplace starter. I then pushed the "learn" button on the receiver and then pressed the remote "on" button to pair them together. It was too easy, and with over a million remote codes available, I am assured that this won't randomly turn on like the old Heat 'N' Glo. What's even more reassuring is that the receiver has an off button that I can use when I go on vacation. Plus, the remote has an additional safety feature where if the remote is not sensed in the vicinity of the receiver every 20 minutes, the receiver will shutdown the gas. The remote also has a child protection mode to prevent inadvertent activation via button playing. This device is far more safety oriented than the original Heat 'N' Glo remote.

I purchased this Skytech unit to add a remote to my fireplace. The installation was very easy, taking less than 10 minutes. Once attached it allows you to remote turn the unit on at whatever level it was last set. The timer is also a great feature. At the time I purchased, this unit was actually quite a bit cheaper than others both online and in the store.

I used this on my gas fireplace in our bedroom. The timer function is a must have! We can turn it on when going to bed and not have to worry about falling asleep before turning it off. Hook up was very easy, and since we already had a plug socket the builder put in under the fireplace plugging it in was a cinch. If you don't have a plug outlet nearby, I'd recommend getting the other unit Skytech makes that is battery powered. I was even able to leave the original switch hooked up as a backup :-)

This remote has made my bedroom fireplace so much more useable. The timer allows me to fall asleep with the fire going with no worries about waking up too warm a couple of hours later. I love being able to control the fireplace from the bed. And installation was an absolute breeze. I was able to install it myself in literally just a couple of minutes. The connectors just slid on to the terminals, no wiring skill needed. Everything was clearly marked. It was truly as easy as just plugging something in. I wish I had purchased this a long time ago. I was a little nervous because it isn't cheap and I have very little experience with electrical wiring. I am so glad I decided to go for it. It was super simple to install and I absolutely love it.

Good ideal, if it worked. I hooked up followed all instructions, it clicked both the receiver and the valve on my gas logs, nothing happen, no fire/valve did not open.Called the help line no help there either. returned. I hooked my old remote and receiver back up it worked fine. this one uses 4-AA batteries which I was trying to get rid of, for it goes thru about 4-5 sets of batteries per winter. I suppose the 110-volt receiver wasn't putting out enough power to do the job.
The package I got came from about 200 miles away and it took a complete week because I chose free shipping, the tracking on amazon site made it look like it came from several states away, address label only had one address that was only 150-200 miles across state--- JUST SAYING
The batteries that came with the unit was just in the box not in a warper or any thing, There wasn't any papers in the box like a receipt or return paper (no Papers) just the instructions.-------JUST SAYING Maybe someone returned bad before due to the packing.
My log set is procom any ideals how to get rid of the batterie remote receiver..YARD WORKER

Was easy to hook up to our free standing gas fireplace. We previously had to flip a switch on the unit. Now we can remotely turn the fireplace off and on with the remote but typically we just use the timer function so it only runs enough to heat the room up. Our fireplace is a supplemental heater in our family room for when its really cold outside.
