Transition Points Stick...but there's an easy solution

Nice, sturdy rod. Only drawback is the transition points between the extension piece in the middle and the curved pieces on each end; moving drapery clips past these points is difficult because they want to stick. However, this problem can easily be eliminated by attaching a metal measuring tape blade (with double-sided tape) to the top of the rod. There is a YouTube video that shows you how to do this. It was really easy and only cost about $6 for the tape measure and the double-sided tape.

Very robust

I'vm using this rod on a 102" opening and it's as rock solid as they come. No sagging and holds up 95" long black out (heavy) curtains like a champ.

Only buy these rods if you aren't going to open and close your curtains.

Why is this product getting such perfect reviews??? They are nice and sturdy rods that look high quality, but the expansion joints are terrible! The plastic piece at the cuff of the rod is so abrupt my curtains hung on rings will not slide over them without violent pull! I am not going to bother returning them because I have blinds on my windows and won't be opening and closing the curtains very often as they are mostly decorative. Plus, the problem is exacerbated since there are two joints. The rod has three pieces. The ends of the rod are joined by a middle rod. So there is two joints you have to worry about jumping across.

This is a great product for a main living areas that have large windows at ground level, as it allows for the curtain to flush with the wall, therefore not allowing anyone to see into your living space at night. Easy to install and durable!

I will update this review if urbanest living gets back too me. The rod itself looks good but there's some big problems with how this product is presented to the customer: First, there are no directions for hanging the curtain rod (I realize it isn't rocket science, but still). Second - no screws or drywall sockets AT ALL. Three - I was sent 2 sets of tie-backs instead of one(why would I need two?). Four - Urbanest doesn't answer their phone and Five - no invoice, no nothing in the box.

I called Urbanest Living and got a recording. On a holiday weekend you would think a brick and mortar store would be open. The rod is supposed to be hung on Monday - how is this going to happen with no screws or instructions? I guess we just figure it out and go to home depot and buy the screws and drywall sockets ourselves.

Edit: In Urbanest's defense, they did call me and left a message that they would mend any problem with the order. I left a message back (Chris) that I will be returning the extra tieback and do expect them to pay for shipping as I only ordered one. I changed my review stars to 3 because they responded to me and I appreciate that. Once the rod was up it is very nice and very study. I'm happy with the item itself. If Urbanest doesn't approve my return and pay for shipping.....I'll be baaaaaack.

Edit 6/3/14 I am giving Urbanest Living a five star recommendation. They immediately gave me a credit for the extra tie back (without sending me a label...I'm still looking for one) and also personally called me to amend the issues in my email to them. They are a quality company and this is a good curtain rod.

Nice rod! ;)

These curtain rods are nice and substantial. I got the "bronze" and was expecting more of a burnished antique bronze finish, but they have more of a painted dark brown look to them. They still look nice. It takes some effort to insert the end pieces into the middle section. This and the color are the reasons I'm giving this 4 stars instead of 5. Overall, I'm pretty happy with this purchase and would recommend this item.

Wrap around rod in antique gold

I'm happy with the style of the rod - and the clever design of the wall mounted brackets with the removable rod makes it easy to swap out drapes. However, 3 of the 6 plastic dry wall screws broke during installation, but I used my own replacements. Also, I thought it was odd that the color of the metal screws are not the same color as the rod. I chose antique gold, but the screws are black (and are visible). Last, the outside rod was dented inward at the opening, so I could not insert the inner rod. I used pliers to remove the dent. but the creases inside the outer rod caused scratches to the inner rod from sliding in and out. Fortunately, the scratches are not easily view-able when Installed with drapes. I did not bother contacting the seller about the plastic drywall screws, the black metal screws or the dented rod. Shipping was fast.

Sturdy

I was using the grommet type drape for the first time as I like the look and could get by with the less expensive rod by closing them by hand and I wanted to block out the heat from the sun. They do what I want them for. They are very sturdy and can handle the opening and closing. However they do not slide very well as the get hung up on the seam that makes them adjustable. That is the reason for 3 stares from me. Someone needs to invent a solution for this problem, perhaps a silicone sleeve for the rod to make it smooth.
