My opthamologist recommended this vitamin and I can only assume it's doing me some good. I never thought about buying vitamins via Amazon.com but was very pleased with this purchases. It is much easier for me to buy vitamins via internet than trek to my local retail store. Also, Amazon.com offered larger-sized bottles that my retailer doesn't stock. This is cheaper and lasts longer so I don't need to buy as often. If I'm going to keep taking these vitamins, it only makes sense to buy in larger quantities at lower prices. There are also several variations available and there's no guarantee my local retailer will have what I need in stock.

Hi to all,

I have been taking eye vitamins for at least 20 years. One thing I might caution folks about with these vitamins is the beta carotene in this product. If you are a smoker or a former smoker research suggests that beta carotene puts you at a higher risk for lung cancer. By all means do your own research. There are a variety of websites dedicated to macular degeneration or just google "beta carotene and smokers" to check it out. Hope this is helpful to some of my fellow eye patients. Be sure to consult your doctor for further advice.

This has been recommended for my mother by her ophthalmologist to prevent (further) damage to her eyes. I guess past a certain age, we all need to take supplements for our eyes and as all my ophthalmologists have told me, wear sunglasses and protect my eyes from the harmful rays of the sun.
