These mugs were on back-order for months. I finally received the mugs today and they will be going back. Very first mug I opened is tarnished, discolored, and the "copper" appears to be missing in some places. Appears these are copper coated and the rim on the firs one opened is copper in part and then silver on other parts.

I bought the set of four. I have used one of them a half a dozen times and the supposed nickel plating inside is disappearing. Where do you think that metal is going? I can tell you where these mugs are going--back!

The whole point of using copper for a Moscow Mule is that the galvanic reaction between the copper and lime juice gives it that extra kick. With the "protective coating," you don't get that reaction. The mugs look nice but are not good for their intended use.

Received these as a Christmas gift and after a few uses the metal inside has begun to flake, scratch and look unsafe to drink out of. Please keep in mind that all care instructions have been followed and nothing except a proper Moscow Mule has been poured inside the glass. Tried to return but past the 30 day return policy. Save your money these are the worst glasses ever!

I see some people don't like these because they are not solid copper. The term "Solid Copper" is used correctly in this context (metal-speak). The copper used in these mugs is solid copper vs a copper-alloy, "alloy" meaning a homogenous, mixture of metals. Thus, these are solid copper with a separate nickel lining (The lining is actually considered a "Finish" in terms of metal-speak. Other copper mugs around that appear copper throughout the product are stainless steel with a copper finish). For food safe copper ware, a lining is needed. Even high quality williams-sonoma copper mugs have a lining. I have seen pure copper mugs with no linings for sale, but understand the risk of drinking an acidic drink from pure copper. Plus, these can go for double the price and require much care to keep the copper finish, otherwise the copper will patina.

I am giving these a 4/5 start because one of mine has a rim which was not sealed completely, and thus is rough on the lips and shows the solid copper and nickel parts. Otherwise, I really like to use them. They keep a drink cold, have enough space to mix a full Moscow Mule. Like most nicer products, these require care. They should be only hand-washed. Dry immediately with a soft cloth. Avoid using steel wool, steel scouring pads or harsh detergents. Exposed copper will develop a rich patina over time. To keep a exposed copper exterior looking new, use a copper polish or a combination of lemon and salt.

I agree with other 1 star reviews. After very little use the copper coating is deteriorating off the lip of the mug. As other posts have stated "I wonder where that deterioration is going?" Yup. Into your drink. "Solid Copper" if I have read correctly is marketed as a non mixture of metals IN THE COATING. So these are more easily understood as nickel mugs with a poorly applied copper exterior layer.

These are great mugs for making Moscow Mules! Saw them at a friend's party and had to get them. We were not disappointed! They keep your drinks cold and are elegant and fun. Yes they say you need to hand wash them. I put them in the dishwasher anyhow and they are fine. Besides we don't use them every day.

I absolutely LOVE these mugs! They look great, feel good, and keep your Moscow Mule or other cold beverage ICE COLD. It seems they are well made, I have had no issues with them or seen any product flaws.

The 16 ounce are a perfect size... I originally got the 24 oz, but returned them because they were just too big.
