First off if you like skateboarding at all...buy this DVD. Just buy it...you will see it more than once...trust me. My favorite Skateboard documentary for quite awhile was stoked the story of Mark Gator this has supplanted it. You get the back story on the most prolific, ground breaking skate team of all time. For those of us lucky to be skating during this time (I DID) this will transport you instantly to that era. To the newbies who didnt experience the hey dey of these incredible skaters...well...sorry but you will have plenty of fun seeing that without Rodney Mullens Flat land Ollie or Mike McGills mctwist skateboarding wouldnt be so progressive as it is now. Rodney should be credited as the man who created Street Skating...his contributions made it possible as it was the genesis for all the tricks you see performed now. Speaking of Rodney..he absolutely steals the show...his free-styling footage as well as his interviews are a joy to watch. The dude has so many layers..I wish he had his own TV show...he is like a punk rock confucious!!

This film also does a FANTASTIC job of explaining the split between Powell and Peralta, Hawk's battles with Hosoi, Craig Stecyks ground breaking pioneering Skate videos and ads...you get everything in this film and when you are done watching it, you will be totally informed about everything dealing with the history of the Bones Brigade. Stacey put his heart into this project and it shine through in every scene, infact everybody involved did....BUY IT!!!

I was absolutely fascinated with the Bones Brigade\Powell Peralta scene growing up and to be honest that never left me. This is an incredibly unique crew from the extremely passionate and caring founder Stacy to the team of at the time no-names he hand picked with Tony, Steve, Lance, Mike, Tommy and Rodney who went on to become the best in the world (especially Tony and Rodney who were not only the best but the absolute innovators of tricks which are still hard for my mind to comprehend much less think about actually being able to do). Everything about what they did was cool, the boards, advertisement, the incredible artwork, even the corny Animal Chin video which I must have watched a thousand times. My parents did not really have the cash to spend on these things as a kid but managed to get me a Caballero deck one Christmas. It was so pretty I was afraid to scratch it and when I did it hurt. To fulfil some old childhood dreams I picked up a couple shirts a few months ago and have to say it felt good throwing them on. I learned a lot of unexpected things I did not know about them which made me like them even more. In an age where I basically detest virtually all manufactured celebrity types and scenes, from music, stars, etc... this was truly a refreshing time that captured a moment in the history of America that I truly miss but sadly know that raw freedom, optimism, and real entrepreneurism are long gone. These were\are good dudes who made the dream seem tangible. To qoute Hunter S. Thompson, to me this was the "high-water mark--that place where the wave finally broke and rolled back" the truly golden age of skating and so much more.

The ideas are very well connected. I feel that it gives a complete and accurate historical flow of events involving the skateboarding scene and how influential the bones brigade and Stacey Peralta's success in keeping this crew together. The bones brigade and especially Rodney Mullen brought skateboarding to the era that we find skateboarding in. They are the most influential skateboarders of all time and they deserve the respect and appreciation for the contribution and innovation and brilliance they brought to skateboarding. Anyone who ever had anything to do with skateboarding needs to watch this video.

I love this movie so much I just finished it three minutes ago and I may have shed a manly tear (I blame onion ninjas). I grew up in the 80s and love skateboarding even though I was horrible at it. And this video was such an excellent look back at how skateboarding began. The Bones Brigade was a name we all knew but so much of this video Was unknown to me and my friends.

Some of the highlights are seeing what a deep individual Rodney Mullen truly is. He is the godfather of so much of skating to see what he had to deal with. It is impressive what they all had to toil and endure so that skating could be what it is today is truly impressive. This is a group of guys who loved the sport a lot of times more than the sport love them.

Stacy Peralta in my opinion is the hero of the story. The way he was able to work with these kids see their potential and guide them is truly incredible. I had no idea that such a genuinely good guy was the head of work of the Bones Brigade. If you don't know who he is watch this movie he's a good guy.

If you grew up in the 80s and 90s and love skateboarding this is a must watch. If you're just somebody who loves skateboarding and you want to know where it all began here it is.

This could be my favorite documentary I've ever seen.
