Very Pleased for 17 Minutes

3 year old, female, collie/hound mix, 45-50 lbs. moderate chewer, more so if its edible.
Braided 6 inch bully stick: less than 10 minutes
Curlies/Flossies bully stick, 6-8 inches: less than 10 minutes.

I was trying something new, and I made sure to watch my dog carefully for her first one, making sure I timed and noted everything for a detailed review.

How Long lasting it is:
pet n shape dog chew

11:47: start time
11:49 can hear the crackling of the rawhide. pieces are starting to crumble off
11:51 all the crusting is gone except in the middle and the rawhide is starting to break away on the ends. small chunks are starting break off on the ends of the rawhide.
sounds like cracking on chicken bones by 11:53 with one end of the rawhide almost gone.
11:54 the middle of the bone crusting is still there.

not long enough for the dog to hold with paws.

11:55 first sounds of burping
11:56 the middle crusting is almost gone, and it is small enough so that the whole bone is running back and forth in her mouth as she chomps down

seems to really enjoy the taste. licking carpet making sure all crumbs are eaten.
noticing the pieces that fall off are not large, as my dog still seems to chew well before swallowing

11:58 still a good bit of the bone is left. continuous chewing.
11:59 looking like it still hasnt gotten soggy like a regular rawhide. still hear sounds of crunchiness.
12:00 by this point, she's broken it into two pieces.
12:01 one small piece left that broke into two again. that it is still capable of being broken is a good sign its not a soggy chunk.Read more ›

I gave these to my dogs and although they liked them, both dogs started hacking when they got to the end of them about an hour later. I took a look, and what the manufacturer is calling ground rawhide, and what is just below the pretty coating you see when they're in the package, is that awful hard glossy stuff that I would never want around my pets-the worst issue, though, is that the rawhide is not completely ground up. It includes a lot of 1/2" - 1" bits that are just the right size for dogs to choke on. I cleared up all the remaining pieces and got rid of them before they did any real damage to my dogs. I had bought two packages of these and the second one is going back unopened. Shame on this company for slapping a pretty coating on this garbage and shame on me for getting sucked in.

I have a 4 month old puppy who is teething. She wants to chew on everything. I got these hoping that they would do what they claim, "keep your pet busy for hours". It delivered. The chews smell decent and do not stain the carpet. She loves them. She likes to chew the chicken and brown rice crispies layer first, then gnaw on the rawhide. This is my second order. She's a happy puppy.

This treaty goodie came in the mail and I was excited. I am a big fan or natural, raw and holistic type products for myself and my pets.

I am a strong believer that dogs need to chew to prevent them from being destructive. The minute I opened this package my dog ran up and patiently sat while I was looking at the treat and reading the package. No corn, soy or wheat- this is a great sign!

After I handed over his doggie bone he went to town. The outer coating is like a crunchy crust. He was able to nibble it off and I caught him chewing on it like corn on the cob. After he got the outer layer off all that was left is a pressed raw hide bone. The size wasn't much smaller than the original with outer coating intact.

I know my dog is a very active chewer, and he demolished one of these bones in less than 24hours. The 4" model might be too small for my 30lb Boston Terrier, but he loves it.

I am going to see if I can get some local pet stores to carry this item because my dog loves it and it doesn't stink up the house when he's chewing on it!

My dog likes these but I'm concerned about the fact these are made in China. I can't help but worry about any food that is made in China. But I did give to the dog and she liked them and she is still ok, so these are probably ok for dogs to eat.

Our dogs love chewing into the very thing outer coating of chicken and rice.

But it really is a *thin* outer shell.

Once that's gone, all there inside is a big, solid chunk of rawhide. Our dogs find that part boring and just leave it.

Not recommended.

Both of my dachshunds love these bones... they have a coating they can eat quickly then they chew on the rawhide for days... more than any other rawhide. I first got these at bed bath and beyond, then they stopped carrying them. Soooo glad i found them here as they are their favorite!

I can't get him to put them down. Once the coating is off, he loses a bit of interest in the rawhide underneath, but he keeps at it. This is especially important for me - my dog is not a big chewer, but he has terrible teeth, so I'm always looking for something he will chew on.

This does the trick. Whatever the coating is really gets their attention. Once they start, they keep at it. Even when my dog stops chewing, he still carries the bone around with him all day.
