I bought it last week to use some light trail running but mostly to run with my dog through the park close to home. It fits like the other Columbia boot I have - perfect. I can wear it all day and not have the urge to get it off.
However, never mind rain or a light drizzle, morning dew made it through the shoes and soaked my sock when all I did was walk through the grass this morning. I would have sent it back if I hadn't thrown away the box. But rest assured, It'll be a Gore-Tex shoe the next time around. Columbia, you should be ashamed of labelling this one waterproof!

I ordered my normal size. 10. They fit my narrow feet snugly which is important as a roofer. The Omni-Grip sole is great under any conditions. They only last one summer. At $100 that's not very impressive, but they work really well so you buy what works when your life depends on it. Biggest problem: NOT WATERPROOF!!!!!!!!!!

When "WATERPROOF" is printed right on the side of the boot, you'd think they'd stand up to more than a quick splash, but you'd be wrong. The mesh part is certainly not waterproof, I hiked in them for 3 days and though they felt great, my feet were wet every day. I never even got in deeper in mud than the toe, not up to the tongue even, but they can't take having water on them constantly. If you don't care about waterproof, then buy them and get some wool socks for when your feet are wet. If you need them to be waterproof, I suggest looking elsewhere.

Great fit and they look fantastic but the only waterproof thing about these shoes is the sole. On the maiden walk, my heart sank when I felt my toes become wet the moment I encountered damp conditions. I'd forgive the boots if I had been standing in a pond for a minute or two, but from kicking some wet grass? Can't fault them otherwise, but dammit Columbia – if you advertise as being waterproof at least make them splash-proof. Will be trying another manufacturer.

Very comfortable shoe. Lots of cushion and good traction. Usually wear a 9.5 but a 10 fit me perfectly. Not the least bit waterproof. Walked through short wet grass and my sock was soaked.

I was specifically looking for waterproof hiking boots and both the Columbia name and the waterproof label on the side of the boot convinced me to go with these boots. I just returned from two weeks in the the back country and my feet were soaked the whole time. The morning dew in the grass was enough to soak the inside of these boots for the rest of the day. What a disappointment!
Other than that they fit OK and were comfortable (when they were dry). If you're looking for boots that'll keep your feet dry in a damp environment, these are NOT the boots for you. As far as I'm concerned, I flushed $80 down the drain.

I bought these shoes at a Bass Pro store but I wanted to say something to people who are considering this boot. They are amazing! If you can get the fit right, these shoes are the comfiest things you'll put on your feet. After reading all of these reviews saying that they are not waterproof, i decided to test mine out. I submerged them in the bathtub up to the fourth row of lacing for ten minutes. I stuffed toilet paper inside them to see if any got wet and everything came out dry. These boots ARE waterproof. These other reviewers must have bought knock-offs or something. They also have good grip, and they're not bad to look at. If you want a comfy waterproof boot that wont break the bank and will live through tough use, get these boots.

Before ordering, I read the reviews which were mixed. I thought I would take a chance on the hiking boots that some said were too narrow because I have a narrow foot (B width). They fit me just fine. I ordered one size larger than I normally buy, which turned out to be a good thing. Some said they were not waterproof, even though they are sold as such; I stood in a container of water well up on the sides of the boots and never felt a drop of water enter either boot. They are as waterproof as can be, I found. They are comfortable to wear all day, but I have not yet taken them out on a trail for the real test of comfort over uneven terrain. I expect that they will perform just fine. I would recommend these boots over those that cost twice as much and would recommend them to a friend. I do agree with some who stated it would have been nice to have the speed lacing hooks on the upper part of the boot for quicker access and less effort getting them on and off.
