Overall very happy. Some of the other designs available, I would not want to leave out in my home. With this unit, you put a bulb in each shoe and then plug it in. A red light is displayed on the power plug at the wall letting you know the lights are on. 15 minutes later the bulbs shut off automatically and a green light is displayed. If you have shoes with mesh or that allow light through , you'll need to cover your shoes so the UV light doesn't shine through. For us, this is much easier than spraying shoes every day. My unit did not come with any instructions or safety suggestions so that was a downside.

I used it right away on some "problem" sneakers, and WOW! It was immediately clear that any offending elements that had previously set up camp in my shoes had been killed off! I LOVE IT!! Later, when I had the time, I did an area by area "deep treatment" so that every square centimeter inside the shoes had a direct blast, each for a full fifteen-minute cycle. Now I just maintain by doing one simple treatment every couple of days. NB: This particular design is a lot better than the others on the market because it's much less cumbersome, takes up far less space, and is definitely more discreet if you don't want to advertise your foot/shoe issue to your visitors. Plugs in as opposed to running on batteries, therefore you have greater and much more reliable power. Also, this is the only design that can be used for high boots. I'M SOOOO HAPPY WITH THIS PRODUCT.

I notice by the end of the day that my shoes stink so much that I can smell them and it bothers me. I was a little skeptical of this product, but have been impressed so far. I ran the product through a few cycles on the shoes I had been wearing for half the day. You press the power button for 3 seconds to start or stop. There is a 15 minute timer on the device. The sterilizer is small enough to easily fit in my 2 year old son's shoes. When, I ran the device, I could smell the ozone about 20 feet away while my shoes were in the closet with the door closed. If the ozone bothers you, you might run the sterilizer in the bathroom with the vent on. The sterilizer did not feel hot. It only puts out 3W per bulb. Afterwards, I smelled my shoes. They had no human smell to them, but did smell like ozone. I had my wife smell them which was asking a lot. She was impressed. I put the shoes back on and wore them till night time. I noticed they still smelled a little like ozone, and did have a little human odor. I could not believe they did not stink.

I was still a little skeptical of the UV light. I did some research and found that the UVC light can be very irritating to your eyes and possibly dangerous. UVC light can be emitted by welding, but can not make it through the atmosphere from the sun. So it is rare that one would see this light. I thought that I could test the light with my transition lenses, but my lenses were unresponsive. I believe my transitions are responsive to UVA or UVB, but not UVC. After doing some research, I found that germicidal lamps emit 253nm light and that germicidal lamps that produce ozone emit 253nm and 185nm light. 253nm is the most effective wavelength for germicidal (virus, mold, bacteria, etc.) use. 185nm light produces ozone.

The Comyan Ultraviolet (UV) shoe sterilizer, by Kendal, was delivered intact.

The product automatically turns off, after 15 minutes, as advertised.

Being a consumer, with insufficient scientific knowledge, along with having none of the scientific equipments, one cannot ascertain the product claims of sterilization, with a single 15 minute exposure to ultraviolet radiation. One also cannot ascertain, if the bulb/lamp is emitting ultraviolet light, since one does not have the appropriate testing equipments.

Internet based searches, on UV exposure times, suggest 75 minutes.

The product includes a certificate documenting that the product was tested against 3 germs.

The product does produce ozone, as advertised, as one can smell it.

The product literature could use some improvement in its English, which is understandable given that the product was manufactured, in a non-English speaking foreign country.

The UV lamp does get hot, so incorporating a cooling off period between usage is wise.

The UV sterilizer can be easily relocated along the length of the shoe interior, allowing sterilization of different portion of the shoe interior to occur, via multiple exposures, ensuring the entire interior is sterilized.

A shoe bag is not included, so it is advisable to cover the shoes, during treatment, to prevent accidental exposure to the UV lights.

The Comyan UV shoe sterilizer, by Kendal, was acquired, as a replacement, for the SteriShoe UV sterilizer, which does not sterilizes the entire length of the shoe interior. Acquistion of the SteriShoe sterilzer was a mistake, due to SteriShoe deceptive advertising, resulting in the squandering of this consumer limited financial funds, on a useless product.

The Comyan UV shoe sterilizer, by Kendal, was less than half the price of the SteriShoe, at the time of acquisition.

Received these shoe sanitizers 3 days ago and they are amazing!!! After just one 15 minute cycle my combat boots from Iraq smell amazingly fresh like right after it rains. Highly recommend this product for those who suffer from Athletes Foot and smelly shoes. Great product, we'll see how long it lasts.

CAVEAT: The directions say that you can replace the bulbs, these are made in China so I need to check the instructions that came with them and see if they have a source for ordering new bulbs. Whatever you do DO NOT use these sanitizers against your bare skin to kill Athletes Foot Fungus, UV light can seriously harm your skin.
