In 1949, Mr. Kihachiro Onitsuka began his athletic footwear company (Onitsuka Co., Ltd.) by manufacturing basketball shoes out of his living room in Kobe, Japan. He chose the name ASICS for his company in 1977, based on a famous Latin phrase "Anima Sana In Corpore Sano," which, when translated, expresses the ancient ideal of "A Sound Mind in a Sound Body." Taking the acronym of this phrase, ASICS was founded on the belief that the best way to create a healthy and happy lifestyle is to promote total health and fitness. Great wrestling shoe!

We were grateful these shoes where offered by Amazon Prime! Our son's shoe developed a hole in them during a wrestling match. We were able to order the same pair of sshes we bought for more money from a brick and mortar store at less money (two seasons prior) and received them before the next school match.

These shoes are durable as they went through two of our sons with hard use at practices and matches. Very happy with the quality and fit.

Fits well, classic design

We buy a lot of wrestling shoes, as my 16 year old son wrestles all year. He prefers Asics, as he feels they just function the best. He's recently had the JB Elite which look super cool but had broken stitching within the first two weeks of use, and his last pair was the Dan Gable Ultimate - the rubber sole on both shoes split in the same spot within two months of use. He's so far very happy with the CAEL V5.0 - fits well, and there's not any loose stitching or signs of early wear like his last two pairs. We hope these hold up for his entire school season.

Reviews Say Buy Bigger & You Should

For the most part, I have always ignored reviews telling me to buy bigger or smaller. I have always worn a size 10. I bought size 10, and they were tight as hell. I mean real, real tight. Not simply competitor- tight, but impossibly tight. It was very tough walking around in them. They are great shoes though. Buy a half size larger, and you will still have a very snug shoe.

I got these wrestling shoes for my brother who needed some new ones, he was so excited to get them and the change of color is really nice compared to black shoe after black shoe after black shoe. He uses them for his matches and tournaments. He is a size 11 (US) and is only 16! I got them in an 11.5 because he is still growing and I read the other reviews about them fitting a tad small so I thought it would be better to get them a little bigger. He says that they fit perfect, not too small or too big.

May be best ever.

I have worn the earlier versions of the Cael Sanderson wrestling shoe and this is by far the best one yet. I am sure some will disagree but this may be the best wrestling shoe on the market. The original Combat Speed was a great fit and the Cael 5.0 is right there in comfortableness. I put it on from the box and wore it at practice that night. Excellent shoe.

Sweet pair

Because this is my fourth pair of Asics, I guessed that they would fit the same as all of the other pairs I had. Since I was already in an 11, I ordered 12s so I could wear them longer, assuming they don't fall apart first(considering how hard I am on my shoes). Great shoes, traction is good, overall just a basic shoe. Order a size up if you want to wear them longer and don't want to complain about them.

Great shoe! Of course it is it is ASICS!

So this is a great shoe! I got the Navy/Silver/White ones and i'm not going to lie.... they look pretty sweet! I have always been a fan of Asics since my first day I started wrestling in high school and I stayed loyal to that brand through all of high school. Now that my first pair are all beat up very badly (they have their special place in my room next to my state champion medal and all my other medals) it is time to get some new ones as I am once again coaching.

They have perfect grip and fit PERFECTLY. However I think the reason that everyone is having problems with the ordering of these shoes is the fact that these particular shoes are not a wide sized shoe. So everyone who normally wears a 12 or 13 wide or whatever just goes in to order, see's their number size and click order. These are not a wide shoe, so if your previous shoes were indeed a wide than you are going to want to go up either half a size or 1 full size. If your last pair of shoes were too snug go up a full size, if they were not just to snug but just all beaten up and you want something fresh go up half a size. If you do this you should have no problems in your ordering!

Great shoe!

Ordered these for my younger brother for his first year wrestling in high school, and on varsity. He loves them! His only complaint is that they're a bit of a nuisance to get on and off, but that's what they make the zip-up and velcro shoes for. However, I would sacrifice the effortlessness of those shoes for the beauty of this shoe. Blue is one of his school colors so that may play a factor, but he immediately put these shoes on because he was so excited. He said they're comfortable and he continuously gets compliments at his meets/tournaments. Definitely recommend! LOVE Asics!
