Another prime demographic for this product: Alaskans! I am so impressed with these window covers that I have developed an online review account just to write about them. Our long summer days lead to us resorting to many and varied creative and not so creative ways to cover up bedroom windows so that we don't wake up too early and/or can fall asleep in the first place. You name it, most of us have tried it. Cardboard, tinfoil, black garbage bags, fabric...even paint! The standard blackout curtains most places sell let light seep in around the sides. I know--I've tried 'em all. I discovered Blackout EZ Window Covers and bought them in white, to separate myself from the black Hefty bag crowd. These are sleek, fit snuggly in the windows, don't look bad at all and more importantly: they work! They really work. I was skeptical but the proof is in the pudding. I measured them as instructed. velcro-ed them against the inside frames of my two bedroom windows and voila. No light. Darkness. In fact the windows were so dark that my bedside alarm clock and light around the bedroom door frame were startlingly distracting. So I've turned the clock away from me and used some leftover Blackout EZ on the top and bottom of the door. Ahhhh. The older I get, the more the summer light has affected my sleep but thankfully there IS a solution. Not to the getting older part but, well, at least I can get my zzzzs. Great product, great price, and super quick shipping. It arrived impressively quickly and the instruction sheet was super easy to follow. EZ that is. Recommending this product to all my friends.

So I had been looking for a product to completely black out windows a couple years ago on the internet, and had given up because there was really nothing out on the market. Then I tried looking again, and I found this product about a month ago. It is amazing how well it works, especially if you are used to "blackout curtains" that still have light pouring in from all around the edges. It can be a bit of a shock standing in a room that is COMPLETELY dark in the middle of the day if you've never experienced something like that before. I got this particular size and color, so this is the one I'm reviewing. I actually ordered it off of the website directly, but I wanted to share my experiences here. Install was very easy and straightforward. Go to the website and just watch the 5 minute video and then follow the instructions. It's easy to understand and if you just follow the steps laid out by him in the video, install will be a snap- just make sure to take your blinds down before you install (unlike some other amazon reviewers...), and then you can just put them right back up afterwards.

Again, this works incredibly well and is one of the only things I know of that will TOTALLY black out a window which is great for people on night shifts, people who are sensitive to sunlight in the morning, home theaters, etc. I would definitely go with the white/white version because it does just as well at blocking out light as the white/black version, and it looks a lot better in a room. I think the white is newer so that is the only reason it doesn't have as many reviews as the black- I'm guessing they went with the black color initially because it made sense based on the name of the product, but the white version performs identically. Great product, highly recommended.

This works better and installs easier than any other window blackout kit you'll find. With just a pair of scissors, I had 2 windows neatly covered with these kits in about half an hour total. It's totally lightproof and can be easily taken down or put back up again in seconds. And it even looks reasonably nice inside (though it's behind curtains anyway), and looks pretty much like a pulled-down roller shade from the outside. The white color will reflect sunlight to keep things cooler in the summer, and the dead air space will insulate a bit extra in the winter.

Getting good quality darkness for day sleeping is a lot harder than you'd think at first. Before this I tried blackout shades and curtains, but they always leaked a lot of light around the edges, pretty disappointing for how expensive they were. There's also dark window film, but most of it isn't dark enough to work well, and the kind that's totally solid black looks weird from outside, and soaks up so much heat from the sun that it can make the window pane expand too much and damage the window's insulation seal, or even straight-up crack the glass right through the center. Not to mention what a huge pain it is to install, and how hard it is to remove cleanly later. Sleep masks either leaked light around my nose, or were uncomfortably snug, and they often rubbed loose on my pillow and woke me anyway. The only other solution that worked pretty well was just cutting cardboard panels from big corrugated boxes to fit in the windows, but I had to tape the edges to keep them from leaking light so they weren't easily removable, and of course they looked awful.
