I enjoy Amy Brown's artwork and stumbled upon this here on Amazon at a good price so tossed it into my cart. Seems like a nice sturdy mug, should do all a mug can do. Stamped Thailand on the bottom. One nitpick, the image does not wrap around the entire mug, there is a 1.5-inch tan band where the print stops. This band is actually on both sides of the print, but it blends very well on one side but poorly on the other. Well, no big deal if that were the proportions of the image, and if that were true I would agree. The odd part if that, after looking at the print, they cropped a small portion of the image. So why cropped a portion and than use blank tan as a filler on the mug? Other than that, the colors are nice, the detail actually pretty good. Nitpick aside, if others of the series drop to the same price, I may pick up a few more.

I was somewhat concerned when reading the review of the one customer that had purchased this item, for it was indicated that instead of this mug, one with the same decal was substituted much smaller than this size with brown borders around the decal. The exact same thing had happened to me once on a previous order and I found it somewhat disappointing. I decided to order the mug anyway, for I have the actual Amy Brown figurine statue and thought that displaying them side by side would look nice on my bookshelf. To my delight though, I received the full sized large decal that is displayed here that stretches all the way around the mug.

I have been collecting Amy Brown's wonderful artwork of Fairies for years including these coffee mugs. (Tea mugs? Well, at any rate I drink coffee from mine.). I am a very patriotic American, and for years the fact that these mugs were manufactured in St. Petersburg Florida, (according to the identification on the bottom of the mug), was a source of pride for me. After all, Amy Brown is one of the finest Fairy artists in the world, and she's an American, ... so I thought it was only fitting that her artwork was printed in the USA as we'll.

As you may well imagine, I was somewhat sad and disappointed to see that now they are embossed on the bottom of the mugs that they are manufactured in Thailand despite the sellers claim that it was manufactured and assembled in the USA. I guess it's a sign of the times ... but I'm still disappointed.

Nevertheless, the quality of the actual decal prints are still as beautiful as they have always been and the size of the mugs are identical as the other mugs in my collection ... so I guess it really doesn't matter.Read more ›
