I love 3M products and this is very useful tape. There are certain spaces that really call out for caution. This tape is a great way to call attention to a possibly hazardous spot, like a bad step or a drop off. But for almost fifty bucks, you have to ask yourself whether it's worth it or not.

So what is this product?

It's a nice wide roll (two inches wide) of black and yellow striped tape. It is a good thin PVC substance with a reliable sticky back. It should stick where you need it. But fifty bucks a roll...really?

If you are hard pressed to mark off a hazardous area, then this tape is a great solution. However, the price is hard to reconcile. It's cheap insurance, but still...

Husband in a remote area on a job site and needed this... said it worked just as it should, no issues. Probably a lot more reasonably priced in a hardware store... but it wasn't available... nice to have the option to have it shipped directly where he needed it!

3M safety tape has a multitude of uses. A couple of years ago I broke my ankle tripping o the back stairs in the dark at my parents' house, having forgotten how many there were. We also have some steps out back, often slippery from fallen leaves and in the shadow of the house. To prevent myself or someone else from missing a step I marked the edge of each with safety tape. The bright yellow stripe is easy to see in moonlight or the little bit of garden light which gets into that corner. Until we get to putting in more lighting. this is an easy and economical solution.

The tape is wide and strong (much like duct tape) which makes it excellent for packing/ mailing. I work with hot glass and am frequently mailing fragile things : glass art, glass supplies. The bulk of this roll will be used to call out to the post office that the contents are *fragile*. This does not ensure that they will be handled appropriately, but it is attention grabbing and should get the message across (I am placing fragile stamps in the yellow area).

It's an easy way to call attention to thing which might otherwise be overlooked and eliminate or at least minimize potential hazards.

I came back to revise this, realizing that people use it in all different ways. The tape is strong and a little stretchy, plastic, not fabric reinforced like duct tape. It is, however as strong or stronger than packing tape (at least what I have).

Let me start by saying I am not a safely tape connoisseur. When I saw the price of this item, I had to keep reading the description because the price for one roll of tape was a bit incomprehensible. I thought surely this must be a four pack… I guess I just don’t do a lot of shopping for safety stripe tape. I really don’t understand what makes it so expensive, it’s not super thick and it also isn’t reflective…

So, what do I need safety tape for? My current obsession is creating simi-reusable coffee sleeves by covering cardboard coffee sleeves with vinyl tape. While this is a little expensive for what is essentially an arts and crafts project, it did work well and I liked the look of the completed project.

I had the chance to try this tape out and it is fantastic! The tape is very sticky and goes on strong, yet it is like a post it note in the fact it peels right off with no residue left behind. I use light controllers for the holidays to sync my house with music and lights and often have parts where I need to put tape to secure or "warn" people of where cables are at. I thought this year I would try this out and it is great. If you need safety tape that is not permanent but is not going to come off until you peel it off then this is exactly what you need.

I am not using this as safety tape, so I can't state anything about that. I've used this as tape for my moving boxes. It is a strong tape that is easy to work with. I found that if I cut strips and stick them against the wall, they easily peel off for quick use. They do not come off the boxes without taking some of the cardboard with it though, so be prepared for that if you do what I am doing. The yellow strips make it easy to write on with a sharpie. I've been able to tape everything closed and label without wasting anything.

This roll is a lot more expensive than I had imagined for safety tape. Due to the expense, its use has to be justified by a high priority need. It's good to have around for emergencies, insurance-related matters where photos will be taken to record events. The tape will show well in photos because of the extreme color definition and shiny appearance.

Notes after using 3M Safety Stripe Tape 5702 Black/Yellow in a variety of locations, over the past couple of weeks:
This particular roll contains 36 yards of 2 inch tape -- that's a lot of Safety tape! The tape is very easy to pull from the roll, or using a normal tape dispenser with a 3 inch core. I was not able to tear the tape with my fingers -- one either has to cut it with a cutting tool, scissors, utility knife or just cut it with the blade that is usually fixed to a tape dispenser.

The 3M Safety Stripe Tape 5702 adhered instantly to various metals, smooth concrete, painted concrete, glass, plastics and wood (indoors and outdoors) with no problems. The cleaner the surface, the better the tape adhered. The tape did a wonderful job going around corners and performed exceptionally well when pulled taut for a tighter fit.

The tapes moisture resistant vivid yellow and black stripes are a real attention getter, and can be seen from a good distance away. Removing the tape is a breeze -- left no funky residue, even though it had been in place for a week.
