Sanuk was started by surfers in southern California in the late '90s who were looking for footwear that reflected their lighthearted way of life. Founder Jeff Kelley was disappointed to see little selection in a category of footwear that had become his main shoe staple: the flip flop.     My daughter has sensory issues. She loves loves loves these shoes. She does not have to wear socks with them, so that cuts out on a lot of our clothing fights in the mornings. If they get stinky, I throw them in the washer and they come out smelling great! They are lightweight, but are closed toed so she can wear them to school. They are a great solution to not being able to wear flip flops to school.

    a bit smaller than your average size 2, but perhaps they will stretch with use. i myself have had good experience with sanuks, so i decided to buys some for my son and daughter. light, comfy and hopefully as durable as the men's sidewalk surfer i had for many years.

    I measured my kids foot with a tape measure, several times, several ways and ordered the size prescribed by the SANUK size chart. Way. Too. Big. I'm aware of the fact that they are supposed to be a little loose and floppy, but this is ridiculous and creates an obvious trip hazard for a 5 year old. They don't even stay on. At all. I think they might fit next year. Maybe. And yes, I measured correctly.

    I'm a 5.5 adult size but the youth size 4 fits me perfectly. These are comfortable, feels just like flip flops. The material used for the sole (foam) is identical to those of regular flip flops. I expect the soles to wear out quickly. If you want something more sturdy, durable, and arch support, get the TOMs. I think these shoes are over-priced - definitely not worth $40 a pair. So get them while they're on sale and never pay full price for them!
