These little suckers are great for shimming out devices when your boxes are slightly too far behind the finished wall. Keep in mind that according to my interpretation NEC allows for no more than 1/4" of flammable material to be exposed at the front of the box, after that you need an extension.

I don't see much alternative to this product, but is very useful and gets the job done, especially the LEGO style stacking feature allowing you to adjust the right spacing. A must for tiling over switch/outlet box. Don't forget to buy the longer screw to accomadate the extra spacing.

Discovered these recently at my local electrical supplier and decided to give them a go since I'm doing a big remodel to the house. Well folks, they do what they say. Fairly easy to use and they do sort of clip onto the screw so they stay put while you are tightening things up. Shimmed out all my fixtures easily. I will never be without some of these in my electrical bag!

For years, I've been using a few washers to get the switches and receptacles to meet flush with the wall. Then I found these. They are great! They are notched so they can be used with Decora type switches without getting in the way of the switch plate screw. They fit together like Legos so you can stack them. You'll receive 24 strips in a bag, which for most household applications will last for many outlets.

My old house was riddled with loose outlets from the previous owners handy work and when it came time to sell it, the inspectors called them out. I ordered these spacers and they worked awesome. About the only time you will have any issue is when you have to really stack them up, say 6+ but even then it was just slightly harder to deal with and not something you should have to do often unless your house is like mine.

These are really well made. They click together (like Legos) so you can reach the desired thickness without them coming apart. The notch is the perfect size to allow you to slide over the screw, but it won't fall out as you're screwing your device against the box. I couldn't be more pleased with how well they worked out.

This worked great for moving outlets away from the wall where we installed kitchen tile back splash. They come in a string of 6 or so, you do not have to separate each one. Just bend it and snap, if you separate them they can fall off if not secured well and then you have to find it. It took between 5 and 6 for out back splash.
