This thing is great, my only concern is what will happen once the internal battery in my roam 2 dies from these rapid charges? Anyone that knows anything about batteries knows that the faster you charge them the less their overall lifespan will be. Fine with me so long as the camera will record while using the plug once the battery fails. I use my roam 2 for fishing and carry a 12v 10ah agm battery with a cig lighter adapter to record long all day sessions. If you want a sort of external long lasting battery pack that will last the entire length of a 32gb card then this is the way to go! If you just want to charge your batteries faster, then consider getting one of the contour camera models that uses a replaceable battery pack.

Seems to be the only cable that will allow you to charge AND use the contour camera at the same time. It is very frustrating that I can't just buy more of the cables and in different lengths. I tried replicating the cable by splicing a normal USB cable but this was the only thing that actually worked to charge.

The quality of all parts is very high and the adapters and cable are durable. Really my only complaint is above. Other than that it is a great product

I already own one of these, and use it regularly on my touring motorcycle. I decided to get a second, to equip my "stormchaser" 4WD Escape so I could use the Contour Roam2 as a backup to the GoPro Hero2 already mounted in the vehicle. It really is capable of operating the camera and charging it at the same time; the Contour can actually be turned on and operated until the 32G chip is full (at 720P, about 7 hours). So now, I can shoot video while I'm approaching the storm with the GoPro in the front, and while I'm retreating a respectful distance with the Contour in the back. I haven't yet used the wall charger (the power-point charger has, to date, kept the battery up while the vehicle is being operated, so there's no need), but it's nice to have a cable readily differentiated from the dozens I have in the car for other purposes; those neon molded ends are an immediate indication that it's no garden-variety USB-to-mini-USB cable, it's purpose-built for a single application. A great product, and Action Gear gave me an incredible price, too.

Another pretty much useless accessory. I have not used it so far as charging the camera on the computer while transferring files is just as easy with the cable that came with the camera. I only opted for this because the camera was the same price with or without this accessory.

Purchased this February 15th, 2015. I use the Contour Roam in my car as a dash cam. This cable kit allows you to charge the camera while you're recording. Contour made standard cables incompatible to charge the camera while recording so you're forced to buy this kit.
A couple weeks ago while reviewing my videos I noticed the videos would stop after only a minute of recording. I thought my memory card was defective. Nope. The power port (cigarette lighter) adapter has stopped working. I didn't notice the camera wasn't getting power because the cam hangs upside down on my windshield and I can't see the power lights. I'm too late to return it according to Amazon's return policy.
At least the actual cable still works. I have another power port adapter so I've been using that. So I paid 28 bucks for a cable and AC outlet adapter.
