After dealing with our 3 part pre-lit Christmas tree for several years, disassembling it every year and then trying to get it reassembled with all the plugs in correctly so that all sections lit, I decided it was time to simplify the process. I found the Tree Keeper Bag, and realized that with it, I would be able to put the tree away with the three sections together and all the plugs plugged in correctly. And from now on, I'd never again have to struggle with putting the tree together and trying to get the lights to work. It sounded way too good to be true, but I was desperate and ordered it from Amazon.

Today, I took the bag out of the packaging, and I must admit that I was dismayed to find how much bag there was! I could not imagine being able to compact all of it neatly beneath the tree. But I followed the step by step instructions. I managed to center the whole thing over my tree stand and attach the buckles to the legs of the stand. Then I stood back and looked at all that bag and again wondered how it was ever going to look presentable underneath the tree.

But I followed the remainder of the instructions, pulling the attached skirt material up over the bag and tightening the drawstring. Almost magically, all the bag was drawn up neatly under attached skirt. Amazing!

The tree is now up, and our own Christmas tree skirt fits perfectly over the bag. Nobody can tell that there is a Tree Keeper Bag lurking underneath.

Of course it remains to be seen if the post-Christmas procedure of shimmying the bag up over the tree works as easily as the instructions indicate.Read more ›

Had I written this last year just after placing our tree in this storage bag I would have given it 5 stars. It is sturdily constructed and slipped pretty easily up our slim tree. The problem is not in compressing the branches upward as they are hinged that way and have flexibility in an upward direction. The problem arises the next year when you go to slide the bag down toward the tree's stand. It's much the same principle as a barbed fish hook in that the branches of the tree become the barbs that do not want to let the bag slip past them on its route to the floor. Short of destroying the branches there was no way to get the darned thing off of the tree. We ended up slitting the bag vertically and will try to patch it together for storage. This storage system seemed like such a good idea, but just did not work for us.

I purchased a red Balsam Hill-branded version of this bag with a rolling stand (a.k.a. the PRO model) in December 2014 for $99.00 on sale and with free shipping for my 6.5 foot Vermont White Spruce (55” girth) artificial Christmas tree by the aforementioned manufacturer. This storage bag solution is supposed to be an easy-on, easy-off experience for artificial Christmas trees up to 9 feet tall having a girth of up to 60 inches.

Well, nothing could be further from the truth. The videos on the Treekeeperbag website are clearly delusional; the ease with which two individuals handily and expeditiously are able to get an apparently large Christmas tree to fit inside one of these contraptions cannot be duplicated in reality. The dimensions of the bag being used in the website video also appear to be much larger than those of the bag that I received (or the tree is of significantly smaller girth). This is possibly intentional to seduce/fool unwary consumers to purchase this item without hesitation.

In my case, the circumference of the storage bag is clearly too small, despite the claim of being able to handle an up to 60-inch girth tree. It is absolutely impossible to initially get all the bottom-most hinged branches of the tree inside the bag to then start advancing the bag upward to eventually cover the entire tree. If I were somehow able to succeed in getting my tree to fit inside this straitjacket of a tree storage bag (perhaps a Japanese Sumo wrestler could do so?), I can only imagine the difficulties that would arise next year when trying to get the tree out of the bag for the holidays. Other disappointed reviewers have had to literally cut their Christmas tree out of this bag the very next year and/or ended up damaging their tree in the process!Read more ›

Wow. I don't know who thought of this concept but it's the greatest tree storage ever in my opinion. After purchasing a new 7-1/2 foot tree this year, of course we couldn't get it back into the original carton! So I went looking for the CoverMates - 60" Holiday Christmas Tree Storage Bag (Fits up to 11 foot Artifical Tree) 3 YR Warranty - Built-in Cinch Straps for Easy Transport - Heavy Duty Polyester - Reinforced Padded Handles I'd bought for our other tree (we still have it) and ran across this TreeKeeper. I'm anxious to see how it packs back down for next year because the bag actually acts as a tree skirt, though I'll be also using my more decorative red skirt on top. Storage was so easy though - you must pull the bag up over the tree, all the way to the top. There are draws and buckles to tighten things up and the fabric is a nice heavyweight polyester and thick. You'll need two people to turn it on its side and tote it to the garage, but then you just stand it up in a corner until next year - no more struggling to get that tree in and out of the attic, yay!
