I received this monitor yesterday and got it all set up. It has been hard to not be at my computer since then because I love having it so much.

A little background, I am a very heavy computer user. I built my own gaming computer about a year ago and use it every day for long periods of time. Because of budget constraints when I built the PC I was only able to afford one 27" screen and it is what I have used since. It is a great screen but for things like working from home and multitasking it is a huge drag to use. I knew I would eventually need a second screen to make things easier.

You can't beat the price on this. I looked everywhere and this is the best bargain I found between user reviews, quality, and functionality. I own a lot of Asus merchandise including two computers and a tablet and have never had problems with them. I am sure there are outliers but I am always confident when buying an Asus product.

The biggest sell point for me on this was the ability to turn the screen vertically. Because of the amount of desk space I have, I cannot fit another horizontal monitor. I knew I would need to have something in portrait mode but I didn't want to drop the money on a VESA mount and have to hang it on my wall. The fact that this guy can easily switch to portrait on the stand is super convenient and part of the reason I bought it.

The cords that come with the monitor are very short. I saw this in one of the product questions and underestimated just how short. I had to go drop 25 bucks at Best Buy for a longer DVI cable which kind of sucked but I don't really hold that against the monitor. It was just because of how I wanted it set up that led me to needing a longer one and I didn't want to wait for it in the mail.Read more ›

I was looking for a midsized monitor that had DVI input. I already own 6 Asus monitors on a different system and they work perfectly, so buying this monitor for a budget pc build was not a difficult choice. I would give this monitor 5 stars, but the vertical adjustment on the stand will not stay locked in position thus allowing the monitor to travel up or down if bumped. The stand is nice otherwise. This monitor comes with onboard speakers which have decent sound. DVI, DSUB, and sound cables are included.

This monitor is perfect for my second monitor. I have the VG248QE as my first monitor, and this right next to it is splendid. The main reason I bought this was because you can rotate it to be in portrait mode, which is great for chat channels or programming, or you can have it landscape when you're playing video games or watching videos. Another reason is its great price. Highly recommended!

Hooks up very easily. I use it for writing/research - so mostly just having extra documents open while writing and taking notes.

Nice screen - though after having a retina screen, it's hard to get used to even this relatively descent resolution.

The size fits my needs perfectly.

The volume up and down function is weird.

The speakers are a joke - but I didn't need them to work anyway.

Works fine, and cheap.

I've always liked ASUS monitors, and this is no exception. It has a nice picture and actually looks quite a bit better than a couple ASUS LCD's that I purchased a couple years ago, even though this one is of a lower resolution. It seems to have deeper blacks and better shadow representation. I'm not sure what the contrast ratio is, but it looks great!

My only complaint is in the menu setup and some of the connection behavior. When turned on, it will automatically search for ANY signal, regardless of what input you've selected, and it will switch to ANY signal that's active when the one you're using goes to sleep. This can be very annoying for me, as I am a computer tech, and I am frequently restarting the machines I'm working on. If I'm using computer A to research the issues I'm having with computer B, then switch to viewing computer B, implement the change and restart, it will automatically switch back to computer A, which still has an active connection. This really isn't a huge deal, except for the fact that they thought that it's more important to put an auto adjust button on this monitor instead of an input select. You have to hit menu, arrow down, hit menu again, arrow down, and hit menu again just to switch inputs. I have literally never had to use the auto adjust button, and I don't really think it needs to BE a button...why isn't that function hidden in the sub menus?

Anyway, it's bothersome enough for me to dock a star. If only there was a way to change this auto switch function in the menu system, this would be so much better for me.
