So far this is working very well for my labradoodle. He has a very sensitive personality, so I didn't really want to use a bark collar that actually shocked him. He used to bark every time someone walked by, and when he wears this he barks once, and then stops. Amazon had by far the best price on this. I bought it at another store first, and then found it here for almost $20 less, so I returned the first one and bought this from Amazon. I don't know if it would work for a dog who has a serious barking problem or one who is stubborn, but for my dog who is very sensitive to correction and only had a few annoying barking habits, it worked great. I gave it 4 stars because the on/off switch seems a little flimsy and it's a little hard to adjust the size of the collar, but otherwise I have been very happy with it.

YES, the collar does work with other noises, not just barking, so we don't keep it on our dog all the time, JUST when she is in a barking mode. We put the collar on and she stops. When we take it off, she is much better about barking. A 'time out' tool for dogs. I appreciate having a tool available that is humane, using sound not shock to correct a bad habit. Thank you PetSafe! We also have PetSafe doors. Love them! Dogs do too.

The collar seems to work. Maybe works too well. The problem barking was happening whenever guests would arrive.
As soon as I put it on my dog I noticed the status light flashes green every five seconds. If he barks it goes red for about one full second, during which time it is sending a correction tone. So far so good. However, any sharp noise sets it off, so the poor dog gets a correction if a door slams or a book falls on the floor. We noticed this when he was shaking and standing stock still in the corner. Apparently a loud conversation must have been setting the thing off repeatedly and he was being traumatized without our realizing. We took it off him and now only put it on when expecting guests then remove it as soon as they have arrived. That strategy seems to have taught him the desired message pretty quickly.

We have 2 dogs, (45 lbs and 20 lbs) who are contained in our yard with an underground fence and collars. They both get territorial and run toward the edge of the yard, barking like crazy, when anyone walks by. We tried the spray collars first. This is effective for the smaller dog, but our large dog just keeps barking through all the spraying. She is particularly sensitive to loud noises, she runs and hides when we clap loudly, or cheer when the Steelers make a touchdown. We have been using the ultrasonic collar for about a week now. It has stopped her barking completely! The little one can get out a small grunt-like bark without making his collar spray. Other than that, they both sit peacefully on our walkway when anyone walks by. It is such a relief! I do see that other noises can activate the collar, so we only keep the collar on her when she is outside, unattended. Hopefully, once she "un-learns" the barking behavior, we will be able to remove the collar entirely.

It's so sad: Every noise in the house makes it go off. I can only use it for my dog's barking when the house is perfectly quiet (does that ever happen?) and when I am willing not to speak to her, because even my voice sets if off, or closing a door, or moving my chair on the hardwood floor, and so on....you get the picture.
