after reading evaryones review on this weather radio and hearing complaints about the setup instructions and lack of SAME info with the radio i decided to order one anyway. when the box arrived . what did i find? A detailed info Card on Setting up the Radio with Same Info for US and Canada. and also a Zone Guard Instruction Book. Setting up only took about 5 minutes. So please dont be afraid of this Radio. Its possible someone at Eton caught wind of problems with setup and lack of Same Info and corrected the problem. Its a Great radio and now with Detailed Set up making it a breeze to operate. edited april 24} someone e-mailed me asking if this Radio was equipted with EOM (end of message) we had our weekly test and everything functioned great but "no" its doesnt have EOM. Has to be manually turned off.

3/31/2014 Had this radio a year as of this week and ive had nothing but great service out of it. its on 24/7 and still looks like it did when pulled out of the box. no worn buttons no failures. This has turned out to be the best weather radio i have ever bought. Going to upgrade the house this summer to zone guard plus with wireless modules and move this one to the shop.

I had to call the manufacturer as the weather alert would not come on if in the radio mode or the clock mode. The only way, according to the manufacturer, the alert will be activated will be when the radio is on the Weather band and on standby. That makes sense but you cannot receive alerts if you are the other modes.

Wtih the first unit we were unable to use the buttons. The buttons would stick and we were unable to do any programing and the test alert would not function, so we returned the unit.

We received a second unit and we discovered the Zoneguard+ is more gimmicky than anything. We wanted the wireless function to have one monitor in the basement / tv room and one in the garage.

We got the unit during a tornado and t-storm weekend. We have a Midland unit from wally world and the weather gave us a chance to test the 2 side-by-side.

Problems:
1- The LED screen is hard to read unless you are looking directly at it / straight line of sight. Even sitting on the table trying to program I had to hold the unit up at eye level at the "right angle" to view clearly. I couldn't even leave it sitting on the table because the display was too hard to read.

2- My Midland Wr-120b unit, you can turn the backlight on permanently. The ZoneGuard+ will not stay illuminated. We like the constant on feature on the Midland, great for wall mounting as you can see the display from down the hall, esp at night. The Zoneguard, not so much.

3- The wireless speakers only "alert". They do not provide any audio information, you have to return to the head unit to hear the audio message. I ask, why only have the alert function but no audio. I got tired of running up stairs to only hear there are t-storms.

4-During one of the many alerts we kept finding that the "alert" function would not turn off. During the message, the alert/siren function was alerting making the message inaudible/indistinquishable.

The Zoneguard is a neat idea but it is far from being ready for market IMHO. We will get Midland WR-120B for the basement and garage. They are easier to program, has better features and are overall more user friendly.

I got this radio to replace one that I already had. Honestly it's not a bad little radio, but it sucks compared to others I've used. Here is the issue, when the radio gets an alert it goes off as it should. Then you hear what they alert is, and on every other radio I've owned once the message is done, you hear 4 tones. That's supposed to silence the radio. Not this one, it just keeps right on going and doesn't silence until you do it your self. See that's annoying especially when it's in, say the living room, and it goes off in the middle of the night. The one in my bedroom goes off to, but silences however I have to get out of bed and go down stairs to shut this one up. I've even emailed the manufacture about it, and got silence from them. It's like they don't care, or want to acknowledge this as a problem. So you might want to spend your money on a radio that actually silences itself after the alert message.

Ok.. It has a really loud siren that will wake you up anywhere in the house. Seems to be good with SAME codes and trips just like its programmed to... People here that say it dosent -- Didnt program correctly -- Very Easy.
Downside -- The siren/radio will not turn off until you push a button to make it turn off.
Either way I give it a 4 star

Was looking for something I could use as alarm clock as well as weather alert at same time. The only way I get weather alerts is with radio on and in WB Alert mode. If in clock mode I do not receive alerts. So if you want both at the same time keep looking.

I've had a weather radio in my bedroom for years...not this one, a different one. I had been thinking of getting another one for my living room when I'm relaxing and can't hear it from my bedroom. What I liked about this is the two satellite module's. I figured I could put the radio in my office, the module in the living room and it won't look obtrusive. I don't have it set up for multiple alarms because I don't want to drive my guests crazy when they come over. The two smaller modules are far away from the unit itself and still connect. I decided to put one in my garage because I work in there a lot and would like to get alerted if I can't hear my phone. It still connects despite being downstairs and on the opposite side of the house which is impressive. So far we haven't gotten an alert yet, but it looks like that is going to change in a few hours!
