I brought one of these home to my parents' house when I visited them at Thanksgiving and they LOVED it. They were first very intrigued by the fun case that it comes in - it looks all cool and frosty when you pull it out from the freezer - and then they absolutely loved that it cooled the wine and also worked as an aerator when you pour from the bottle. My parents have a wine fridge that keeps their reds (they don't drink white) at the exact temperature they're supposed to be, so they loved the idea that even when they let a bottle sit out on the table during dinner this wine chiller would keep the entire bottle at the right temperature.

One tip before you use it: make sure to pour out some of the wine from the bottle and THEN stick in the corkcicle! My mother did not read the instructions and shoved the corkcicle into a just-opened bottle of red and the wine splattered all over her sweater. She was a champ about it but I know she won't make that same mistake twice!

I was very surprised when I opened the box to find the Corkcicle suspended in a beautiful thick glass container that was wrapped in protective Styrofoam packaging. I guess they *could* have gone one step further by putting the Styrofoam package inside yet another box so that it would be easier for gift wrapping (wrap over solid material like a box is easier than wrap directly over Styrofoam). However, I think they went above and beyond with the glass container, and I will take the Styrofoam off and wrapped the glass container if I give this as a gift.

That said, I also tested the product itself. It chills down quite quickly in the freezer. It was only in the freezer for ~2 hours when I used it for the first time with a bottle of Chardonnay that was chilled to approximately 50 degrees. It did not cool it down further (which was GOOD, as you don't really want to over chill white wine), but it maintained the temperature for nearly an hour. After about an hour, the Corkcicle was clearly well above 50 degrees, but still nowhere near room temp (which was 70 degrees). I don't know how well this would work for a hot summer picnic, but I think it is a very and clean way to keep your white wine chilled down at the dinner table without having to deal with buckets of ice water and dripping bottles. I also LOVE the fact that you do not need to remove it to pour the wine, as you just flip the silver cap and pour the wine though the unit. Brilliant!

What a better way to test this product than at Thanksgiving dinner. A lot of people, and a lot of wine!! I was pleasantly surprised at how the Corkcicle One kept wine at wine cellar temperature. After I opened it, and poured a couple of glasses, I immediately put the Corkcicle One in the opened wine bottle. When I poured another glass, I noticed the wine was still at wine cellar temperature., it stayed that way until the bottle was empty. (about 45 min later) Testing the product further, I poured some wine using the Corkcicle One with Aerator and then poured the same wine without using the Corkcicle, and did a taste test around the Thanksgiving table. EVERYONE noticed how much smoother the wine that was poured through the aerator was. This is a great product and would make a great gift. The packaging is so sleek looking and fits right in the freezer. One note, make sure you pour some of the wine out first before placing the Corkcicle in the wine bottle!!

I received this as a gift. Works ok, but does not fit into some wine bottles and container is very bulky (in order to freeze the corkcicle properly, you need to leave it in the glass container it comes in.). So if you have limited space in your refeezer it could be a problem. Glass is bulky. Also decorative cap came off after several uses.

I like to drink wine...it makes me happy. With that said, I also like that I can drink wine and keep it cool. I tried this with a few different wines and found it great for keeping whites chilled (remember to pour out the first glass before sticking the chiller in---it is a messy mistake that I'm hoping to only make once), but I really appreciated it for bringing down the temperatures of reds. I think this works best on bottles with a smaller punt. I threw it into a Pinot Noir bottle (very deep punt) and the tip didn't quite go down far enough so it leaked just a bit when I poured. Not an issue with other bottles. What I truly love about this is that I can pour through the chiller part. I've used wine chiller sleeves and ice buckets to chill wine, but this is by far the most convenient and classy looking.

I purchased this about two months ago as a gift. If you're also considering this product as a gift, I'd highly recommend it.

My package arrived very quickly, and was in an amazon box with styrofoam and air packs. It comes in a glass case, which was pretty thick and seems like it will last a while, although the top is made of thick plastic. The square case is about 3x wider than the actual Corkcicle. As is pictured, one of the sides of the case has a black background with white design writing on it. The other sides of the glass contain white printed instructions on how to store it and the product name. The only think I wasn't a fan of with the packaging was the thin plastic piece at the bottom of the case to steady the tip of the Corkcicle when being stored. As far as I can tell, you can't remove it (the part of the case that holds the top of the Corkcicle doesn't come off- you insert the Corkcicle through this hole to store). The thin plastic piece moves slightly and is raised in a circle around the tip of the Corkcicle. It just seems cheap compared to the rest of the packaging, but this is a minor issue and certainly doesn't affect the product.

The only other problem I could see for anyone is how much room it takes up in the freezer (where you store it). This wasn't an issue for us, but just keep this in mind if you're limited with space. You'll require about 4 sq. inches for easy storage and removal.

The person I gave it to just LOVED it- it was certainly a unique gift! Others were looking at it expressing their interest and asking where I got it from too. According to everyone that has tried it so far, it has aerated and chilled extremely well.Read more ›
