This does exactly what it says it will do. Hives are often sealed shut with propolis, and this tool is just the thing for prying the parts apart. The hooked end is handy for prying frames up from the hive body, allowing me to lift and inspect the frames to make sure my girls are happy and having good lives. The straight end is also good for scraping the extra comb the bees seem to make in any gap spaces.

In my experience, the tool is well-made, and the metal is both durable and light, which is welcome when I'm wearing my hot bee suit and tired from lifting heavy hive bodies.

If you're looking for a deluxe tool (and I'm not sure why you would, when this moderately priced model is all you need), you're in the wrong place, but you really should just get this one, because it works.

This tool isn't as wide as it looked to me in the picture. That said, it is very thin and cuts through propolis and wax easily. It's sturdily made and works fine for prying frames apart. The length is perfect for my needs as well. Very satisfied with the item.

Well made and works exactly as it should. We've put it to the test and it has held up well. It is easy to clean and is perfect for a variety of uses. It is a must have for beekeepers. There are many things you can do without, a hive tool is not one of them.

It is what it is. A simple hive tool that works. My hive tools get abused. I leave one with each group of hives so they see lots of weather. No rust to be found. These are my favorite tools as they are a great size and do what I need them to do.

Great scraper, nice and sturdy, with a sharp edge. You will still need a "J" shaped tool for easier access to popping the frames out. You could actually use a putty knife instead of this scrapper.

As I said, you will lose these - get some extra. And if you have an old house with double-hung sash windows, there is no better tool for wedging in behind parting stop, molding, sashes and frames, door stop, trim, etc.

You will misplace these, step on them, and sit on them. They are pretty indestructible. I have one that I have used for 30+ years for carpentry around my house that has not yet seen a beehive.
