I may be a woman, but I'm not generally weak. I have no trouble opening up pickle jars and in general have pretty manly hand strength. This valve was either defective or the worst valve ever. I could not turn it for the life of me. That includes bruising my palm and trying to use my desk for leverage. I couldn't budge it. The edges of the turny knob actually began to develop slight stress cracks. At that point, I knew that there's no way I'd be able to use this if I couldn't turn it. I returned it and ordered this other valve for a few cents more (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00835RX6I/ref=oh_details_o05_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) and it works beautifully.

The first time I turned the valve handle it froze in the closed position and could not be re-opened without damaging it. I wouldn't have given it even a one-star rating except that I couldn't submit a review without a rating.

The threads oddly seem too deep for male adapters I bought, had to use a LOT of tape to get them to seal. Another valve bought from a different source was fine with same male adapters.
