The good:
1) It looks great. Just what we were hoping for.
2) It runs well. The blades were slightly out of balance, but I was able to use the included balance kit to take care of that so it runs with no wobble at all.

The bad;
1) The light is pretty dim for our tastes. I wish it were much brighter. It uses two 60 W Candelabra (E-12 base) bulbs. I am hoping to find an LED substitute that will give off more light without adding heat from added power dissipation.
2) The wall control was a disaster for us. The fan we replaced had a 3-way switch so we could switch the light on an off from two locations in our family room. We had a separate switch wired in to turn on and off the fan. The old fan used a pull chain to adjust speed. This is a very common wiring configuration. Emerson should have a better solution for this common situation. The wall control and remote are really designed to be used to replace a switch in a single location, not two. If you were planning on adding a ceiling fan to a room that currently does not have one, and has only one light switch, the included kit would be perfect. I searched on line and found that the 3-way switch problem is common. Some suggest the solution is to choose one of the two light switches and disable the other one. This was not acceptable to us. Initially I just wired it in exactly like the old fan. It worked, but there was no way to adjust the fan speed and it ran at the highest speed. This would probably have been okay as we rarely change the speed and usually uses the highest one. If you have the 3-way light switch and a separate fan switch, this is the easiest solution as it uses all of your existing wiring. Just discard the receiver and the wall control unit.Read more ›

Fan arrived on time and in perfect condition. The material, fit and finish were excellent. Installation was the same as for every other fan I've ever put together. The assembly instructions probably could have been a little better. For example, the instructions say to attach the fan blades onto the fan *before* hanging the fan on the ceiling holder. This made it a little harder to mount the fan and perform the wiring. Most other fans I've assembled have you mount just the motor to the ceiling first, perform the wiring, and then attach the blades. In hindsight, that would have been easier. Also, the instructions don't have you attach the studs to which the upper fan shroud mounts until near the very end. It would have been much easier to install this near the beginning when initially mounting the mounting bracket to the outlet box.

These are just minor issues. Once assembled, the fan looked and worked great. Mine had no wobbles at all, even at high speed. One note: at high speed, there was a slightly noticeable, periodic humming noise from the motor. This didn't happen at slower speeds. At any speed other than full, the fan was silent. Also, the included wall switch controller worked well for controlling both the light and fan speed from a single switch.

The fan comes with two - 60 watt incandescent candelabra (E12 base). I chose to replace them immediately with a pair of Phillips LED 60w equivalent (7w actual) "warm glow", dimmable E12 bulbs. They run much cooler, provide nice warm-colored light and dim almost as well as regular incandescent bulbs.

Overall, the fan looks great and I am very pleased with it.

This is a very, very, nice fan and light kit !
Love the shape of the fan motor and light kit - just perfect, not really bloated like many are today..
I installed 2 of these fans, and they both fired up, ran beautifully smooth, quiet, no wobble, just perfect..
I didnt have to rebalance anything but they do include a balancing kit in the box..
You will have to remove the light switch for that spot and wire in their remote switch into the box, it will fit just fine.
It only needs to have the wire to the light on the top wire of the switch, and the hot wire from the panel to the bottom wire of the fan switch, and of course, a ground wire..
There will be a little more wiring at the top of the fan electrical box, but trust me, if you can read the instructions, you can do this...
Everything including the remote receiver fit just fine in the electrical ceiling box, and the cover hid all the wires and the hole in the ceiling just right.
Have had another 10 Emerson bigger more expensive fans in another house before, and they were just as nice as this one..
Hard to beat a company that still knows what quality control means...

this is a beautiful fan. We haven't had any trouble with it. It did not come with a remote but we were able to easily locate an emerson fan remote to control it. It has a wall switch which is nice. i know in the dark exactly wear the button is to turn it on because it has a synthetic rubber feel instead of a plastic button or switch.

Fan looks great and really circulates air. I was worried I needed a bigger fan in my great room but this one is more than enough. I am disappointed about the light being as "subtle" as they describe it, but can't complain because it explains it doesn't have a bright light. I even bought LED bulbs to try and brighten it up ( doesn't come with LEDs) but still bright enough to give more light than two small lamps so I'm happy. I did have to use the balancing kit but it doesn't wobble at all. There was no remote so that's a bummer but wall control is nice. I actually bought a 60 in downrod for a 17ft ceiling height and that was not smart, I cut it down to 36 in and that was perfect. My ceiling has a slight slope and no additional pieces were required.
