I think it would be fine for bigger hamsters as well, but it definitely works with the dwarfs. I have had the beach and the doll house and both of my dwarf hamsters loved them. My newest hamster ate the entire bottom out and it collapsed on him lol (that was the beach one). They are really light weight so it didn't hurt him, had to toss it though. The top was in good shape still but he kept trying to get under it. They love to hide under it, makes them feel safe. Keeps them very busy too. I'm going to try the tree version next, so far the beach has been my favorite but it's the biggest and takes up a lot of room. It almost doesn't fit it's so big.
Update** Put the tree in and it is so adorable!! My new favorite! He actually climes up into the tree house. I think that my hamster's favorite is the beach though. More room under it to make a nest.

This is HUGE! almost as big as the habitrail cage! Our dwarf hamster loves the first maze we put in (the tree) and takes his food into the treehouse to eat. We placed bedding underneath and he sleeps there, returning to his cage only for water and the wheel. He doesn't chew cardboard so this should last us a while if the poo and pee will wipe off easily (we'll find out in a week). Includes 4 mazes: 2 beach, 1 tree, 1 house
