Simple fun

If your kid loves horses, you basically have no other choice than to purchase this. There really is no point to this item other than being able to easily decorate your horse any which way you want by sticking various magnetic pieces onto the pony outline. And that, by itself, seems to be endless fun, judging by my daughter.

There is a little stand included that holds the pony. There are saddles, bridles, different tails, manes, etc. as well as accessories for the pony, such as flowers and bows.

There is nothing educational here but there doesn't always have to be. This is just fun and entertaining. I have no complaints.

A go to favorite for my preschooler

We have always appreciated the concept and quality behind Melissa and Doug products. This item is no exception. Melissa and Doug is a company that understands what works time and time again for playtime. This toy promotes problem solving ( accurately placing pieces to fit just right) and creativity as well as cognitive thinking and design. My daughter (4) adores this toy. We seasonally purchases toys for playtime and this is an absolute favorite. The potential design is endless for a child.

Cons?- this item did not have a lid. I wish it had better storage options because small pieces can disappear relatively easy if not put into a container or bag.

Melissa and Doug "My Horse Clover"

My two daughters 4 and 7 love this magnetic dress up horse. The magnets are strong and stay where you put them even when you stand the horse up. I hope Melissa and Doug come up with other animals, maybe a dragon for a boy? Or even a different colored horse.
Two things I would change
The wooden block used as a base is too narrow. It needs to be wider and longer to keep the top heavy horse from tipping over. Also, I wish the wooden box had a cover!! All the tiny spare hooves and flowers get lost even with the most careful kids.

Every M&G dress up set we bring home is a winner...this was certainly no exception. As always though, one big point of feedback...while the wood organizer set is a nice thought, it STINKS at containing the pieces. That's what they invented gallon-sized Ziploc bags for. And then use the wood organizer as the foundation for a craft gift.

This was a christmas present I got for my little girl. We have had it for a long time now and it still works great. Melissa and Doug make quality items that are affordable. My daughter loves that she can change her horse to suit her moods. There are A LOT of pieces, so if you have a messy artist like I do, be prepared to have these every where. I just use a magnet form my fridge and run it over the carpet to grab the smaller pieces. Overall it is a very good product.
