I have to state that I give the LG Electronics BH6730S Home Theater System 5 out of 5 stars for doing exactly what it says it does, and not because it is the best home theater system available. It is what it is, and it's excellent as a low-end, entry level system.

Pros:

* Easy assembly and setup
* Digital Optical Audio output from TV
* Speakers have small footprint (small speakers)
* Rear satellite speakers come with longer speaker wire
* FM radio (small antenna "wire" included - it works!)

Cons:

* Cables not included (no Toslink, no HDMI)
* All speakers wired (you'll have to run wires)
* Commercial network choices limited (No Amazon video!)
* Limited number of input/output ports

The only features I didn't thoroughly test were the USB features, and the FM radio. I made sure everything functioned, but my testing focused on playing Blu-Ray and DVD movies in 5.1 surround sound. Kind of silly testing wi-fi streaming of movies and playing stuff through the USB connection since that's all dependent on other equipment (e.g., speed of an external hard drive, your network speed, quality of FM reception, etc.). Suffice it to say, all advertised features worked. Your mileage may vary.

For a small room, setup is pretty easy and took me about 30 minutes from unpacking to setting up and playing the unit. Everything powered up first try, and running through initial setup, including hooking into my WiFi system, was another 5 minutes or so. My only problem was not noticing that the included battery for the remote was totally covered in plastic when I popped it in (doh!).

You'll get enough speaker wire included to run everything in a 20x30 foot room.

This is a basic 5.1 sound system with integrated Wi-Fi; it won't blow you away and fill up a home theater with movie theater sound but it does a fine job in an average size room. I'm using it in a 16 foot x 18 foot room with a 32" TV. That seems to be a good room size for these speakers.

FYI:
2.1 means that there are 2 speakers and a subwoofer.
5.1 mean that there are 5 speakers (2 front, 2 rear, 1 center front) and a subwoofer.

Setting it up is not too complicated. All the speaker wires & the connections on the back of the receiver/Blu -ray player are color coded so it's pretty easy. The included directions are minimal and the owner's manual is on a disc. I went to the LG website to get the owner's manual instead of just randomly pushing buttons on the remote while watching a Blu-ray to figure out how to adjust sound, etc. I wish they had included the owner's manual with the system; that seems pretty cheap. Sometimes you just need a paper copy to find the answer quickly.

The sound is pretty good. It's a little tinny and muddy but decent for these speakers and this price. The bass is quite boomy if you want it to be. There isn't a lot of tweaking ability for the sound which is not surprising with speakers this small; you shouldn't expect a lot of range in this size/price. The subwoofer seems to be of higher quality than the speakers. All the speakers come with wires & they provide a generous amount. The rear speakers come with extra long wires. I had enough for my room.

The Wi-Fi worked well once it did 2 software updates. I streamed a movie from Netflix & it worked fine after the second update.

Using the Bluetooth with my iPod was easy & sounded much better in 2.1 (stereo w/ a subwoofer).

This is awesome!!! I'm constantly finding that my eight year old DVD player and TV no longer do everything I need them to. I wanted to stream movies from Netflix and save myself around $50.00 a month. My satellite company's rates are steadily increasing, but my older equipment wouldn't allow me to stream. I looked at getting a Roku, but this LG Blu-ray player does everything I want. I checked out reviews from several sources (including Amazon) and found the majority of people love this unit. I must say that I'm very pleased. I really appreciated the fact that some people recommended getting 2 additional cables. They are listed below the product as a package deal. Here are the hyperlinks for your convenience: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001TH7GSW/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_1 http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003L1ZYYM/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_2. Granted I already had both of these cables in my electronic box, I found that they didn't fit my new Blu-ray player. You also have to remember that these cables are not included in the Blu-ray theater system package. It only added around $15.00 to my complete sale.

I'm not a tech savvy person, but I took on the challenge. I opened the box and began putting up my new speakers. I did replace my old surround sound speaker wires because they were not marked. After removing these wires, I put up my new ones, and installed my speakers on a single screw (how easy was that). I then connected them to the back of the player and hooked in my two cables and voila I was already playing blu-rays. It uses my flash drive beautifully and I even streamed an old movie from YouTube the same day.
