Two weeks ago, I ran a 50 mile trail race. This was in Florida with high humidity and 80* temperatures. As you can imagine, hydration was very important. The race consisted of 5- 10mile loops and had four aid stations where hydration bottles could be refilled. With so many opportunities to refill, I knew I didn't need to carry a lot with me.

Normally for marathons and training runs lasting only a couple hours, I carry a fuel bel(<A HREF="http://www.amazon.com/Amphipod-RunLite-Hydration-Belt-Size/dp/B002PA4V8A/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1399304487&sr=8-2">Amphipod RunLite 4</a>), with 2- 8oz bottles). But for this race, I knew I wearing a belt for 10 hours would be uncomfortable. I searched for a small hand held bottle and found the Nathan Insulated QuickShot Plus. I've carried handhelds before, but never one with a strap like this Nathan. I've also never used a valve like the Nathan race valve. So, I wasn't entirely sure what to expect.

Breaking cardinal rule #1 of racing, I decided to use the QuickShot for the first time in the race. And luckily for me, everything turned out perfect.

The bottle fit my hand really well. The mesh strap is easily adjustable via a piece of velcro at the bottom of the flask. The strap is light, breathable, and comfortable. My wife, who has smaller hands than me, used the bottle this past weekend liked the comfort of the strap as well. That tells me this system works well for various size hands. With the thumb hole up top, it's not even necessary to hold onto the bottle. The mesh strap keeps it in place really well.

The race valve worked flawlessly. No spillage or accidental discharge of the contents. Of course, you have to be mindful to not squeeze the bottle when you're cruising along.

Nathan makes awesome products, this is no exception. If you are comparing this to the fuel cell, stop looking. This beats the fuel cell any day.

This is a great water source for shorter runs. Yes, it may "leak" on you a little. What the other reviewers don't get is that it has a squeze to drink cap. You don't open it, you just squeze it and some water shoots out the one way valve. It is very pratical for getting a quick drink on the run. If you like a lifgt weight comfortable to hold and carry bottle that is easy to drink from getr this. If you want an absolutly spill proof bottle taht you have to positivley open and close keep looking.

NOTE I have used this bottle while running BUT I actualy bought this for my 8 year old daughter who has just started running. It is a little big for her tiny hand (she is small) but she can use it and likes it. I like it as well and will probably pick myself up one of them for shorter runs where I don't carry my larger hydration pack (also a Nathan product)

This item is great in concept but not very practical. I took this for an 8 mile test run and here is what I found. First off, the "easy" sip spout is terrible. I had water squirting out at me the entire run! By the end of my run, I was out of water but still very thirsty. Second, the pouch attachment seems like a great idea; however, it does not hold anything more than a (small) key or credit card. There is no way to fit a phone in there whatsoever. My car key fits but only at an angle if nothing else is in there. Third, it is very difficult to put the water-bottle in/out of the holder. I get that it needs to be sturdy but it also needs to be practical!

On a plus side, it was very comfortable in my hand and easy to run with - I normally use a hydration belt so I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to hold.

I love this for short quick runs under 2 miles because I drink way too much water if I go any longer. Love the grip and fit. I have very small hands (female). The strap is easy to adjust for larger hands and re-adjusting is easy even while it's on.

The front pocket is great to store some fuel or keys, it's really not big enough for most smart phones. I take my garage door opener in it with me usually. I especially buy bright reflective colors for safety. It's easy to wash, after each use i just pour some soap/water in there and shake it and wash the lid and let dry.

It doesn't leak but if you squeeze it will obviously squirt out as it's intended.... so just be careful not to give any bear hugs while holding it :)

I have been running for 3 years and picked up Triathlon in the last year. I never felt the need to carry water on my run until recently.

My last residence had a great running trail with water fountains along the way, but then I had to move and the new town I live in doesn't have such luxuries. In addition, my brick workouts leave me with a need to have water on my runs. The Nathan bottle is easy to carry and run with and holds just enough water for about 10 miles (for me anyway). The pouch gives me a little space to carry gum or keys.

Perfect size for even my longest runs. Light weight and easy to forget about while running. The water doesn't slosh as much as in my larger, cylindrical handheld bottle by the same company. Love this one!
