Installed the Pyle PLR27MPBU Bluetooth receiver in my 2001 Chrysler Voyager replacing a Panasonic CD/FM/AM stereo. Though the high end is not as clear as my Panasonic, I was pleasantly surprised how good the overall sound actually was for a $50. receiver. The blue illumination is quite pleasing, and clear to read even at night, if not a little on the bright side.

The Pyle comes with three pages of FM presets, and two for AM. It does have some EQ presets, but just decided to stick with the User settings. Not a very strong high end, I have the treble turned up to the max, as the Pyle appears to emphasize the lower bass range. It also plays MP3s from my USB stick fairly quickly after inserting into the port. The Pyle comes with a wireless remote, and the there is also a built in clock function. The receiver faceplate is also detachable.

The main reason I bought this Pyle was for the Bluetooth function, and it actually works very well. My Android phone paired with it immediately, and I was able to effortlessly stream music from my phone. I was also able to receive calls using the Pyle's connect and end call buttons on the receiver. It will automatically switch when a call is incoming, and ring through the speakers.

I could also make calls using the included wireless remote control. The built in receiver mic is not the clearest by any means, and a little on the low side volume wise, so need to speak up when using Bluetooth.

But other than a few weakness mentioned, an amazing receiver for the price.

I've been using this head unit for about a month now. At ~$40, it performs well enough. My only complaint so far is that the buttons are small. I know that sounds silly, but they are really small. However, once I memorized where everything was it stopped bothering me.

BULLETED LIST!!!! :

Pros:
Cheap
Works
Bluetooth
Loud enough for my stock speaker system. (01 Nissan Xterra)

Cons:
Small Buttons
No rainbows, unicorns or strippers included in the box; just a stereo.

Who uses CDs in the car anymore? I can't think of the last time I did...

So when my Blaupunkt Nevada started to flake, I needed to look for something new... Since the car is aging, I couldn't bring myself to spending the $$ I did on the Blau so I looked for something much more modest. Hoping for streaming bluetooth, built in mic, this fit the bill and Amazon had it for a good price.

Looks- 2/5. It's not flashy, which is probably a good thing so it won't get stolen.
Ease of installation- 5/5. I used wire crimps, and it's ISO so the wire color match the harness. My old Blau was ISO, so I could have just used those plugs, but I opted for a clean install.

Sound- 3/5. Solid 3/5. I don't think any stereo can come close to the Blaupunkt Nevada in terms of pure sound in a stock speaker setup. The Pyle is not too bad, though. The 80W peak is pretty good, not as good as the 100W peak of the Nevada, but good for the pricepoint. The built in EQs are meh, I'ld just rather muck with the treble/bass settings manually. The treble adjustment boosts the high vocal range but not enough of the sparkly highs so tweeters will help. The bass boosts too much into the low mids so the sound gets muddy fast if you turn up the bass setting. I found that LOUDNESS on, with +1 bass and +6 treble gave a good sound, with (barely) enough bass punch, but not droning or too nasal in the mid highs. Very good for stereos that only have LOUDNESS and bass/treble settings.

Bluetooth- 3/5. Unless BT is factory installed, it'll always be a compromise. The mic will never be as good as one with a standalone mic, but I didn't want to run wiring anywhere. For what it is, it's clear enough. Sound coming through the speakers isn't bad either, no feedback, so good vox.

Bought it for the bluetooth; bluetooth works. Install was pretty painless into my '97 Subaru Outback. The OEM speakers are not very good, so I can't really judge whether the quality had improved or decreased.

Other thing to note -- the clock can be set to display 24-hour time, which is very handy. I agree with other reviews that it would be nice if the clock was the default display.

Included are some photos of the receiver with/without faceplate; in the dark; and being wired up. Compare the very short length of this receiver with the full-sized OEM radio.

I received this unit as the unit that I had ordered was out-of-stock and it appeared to have the capabilities that I needed. I wanted to get something that I could use to play podcasts from my Android phone.

I installed it fairly easily into an old Toyota Celica -- although the mounting bracket that was provided wouldn't fit, and the unit itself did not have screwholes that lined up with the factory mounting bracket. However, there was enough of a friction fit that it stays in the dashboard.

Pairing with my Nexus 5 was easy and it plays podcasts fine. It does handsfree calls well enough (I've only tried incoming, and I don't know how to answer with the Pyle, so I answer on the phone itself).

Now to the problems: the display is very bright at night (there doesn't seem to be any adjustment for this). Worse is the way that it handles SD cards. I carefully prepared a 16GB SD card with a bunch of music. It seems to use the SD card when you actively insert it while the unit is powered on. There is *NO* useful navigation of the directory structure, albums or artists. The tracks appear to be numbered, starting at 0001 and going up to however many tracks it finds. The order of the tracks appears to be the order in which the files were written to the SD card (i.e. not alphabetical). There are two ways (as far as I can tell) to navigate: you can skip to next track (or previous), or you can advance to a numbered track. Once playing a track, the display scrolls and shows you the title of the track.

The maximum volume for bluetooth is just about adequate -- you certainly won't be annoying the neighbors. Volume from the SD card was significantly louder.

I also wanted to plug my phone in to get power from the USB port while playing a podcast through bluetooth.
