***Update Three Years Later***: I just wanted to add to my original review and say, if we could give this frame more than 5 stars, we would. We just had cause to take our bed apart to move it, and I'm pleased to say it is in as good condition now as the day we bought it. There is NO bending or bowing of any of the support bars or legs. There are NO additional squeaks. It is just as strong and sturdy as ever. We literally have nothing but positive things to say about this frame. And, if anyone is curious with regards to the headboard brackets - after having moved the bed, there's no longer a windowsill in the way, we no longer need to use the blocks to keep the headboard straight. It sits flush against the wall just as you'd expect it to. So that was clearly a reflection of our home's limitations and NOT in any way a negative reflection on the brackets!

I know you're out there. I know you've looked at this frame a few times and thought, "gosh, it sounds good, but we're such BIG people..." and you've clicked away and continued to suffer with whatever bed setup you currently have.

Well, you are who I want to talk to...

Between my husband and I, we're looking at 650lbs(That's my fault, in case anyone wants to poke fun at the fatties - feel free to give me whatever grief your smug self needs to if it makes you feel better). Add the weight of a king sized 10" memory foam mattress and a 4" memory foam topper, and I definitely had some concerns about just how stable and strong this frame could be in light of that. But I'm a risk taker, so I took the plunge and ordered it.

This review is for the King size frame. I had ordered this bed frame for use with my new memory foam mattress. I read conflicting information about what sort of foundation was appropriate for a memory foam mattress, but I decided to choose this product over a box foundation due to price. For the price this frame was far cheaper than going with a box foundation or a platform. I was a bit concerned that the wire slats on this might not be sufficient to support a memory foam mattress, but rest assured, it works perfectly.

The frame arrived in a rather large box. It is heavy, so you may need some help with it. The box did have handles, which was nice. I was able to move it myself, but if you are on the smaller side, you might want some help. I was expecting a bunch of pieces but instead it came almost fully assembled. There were 2 frames folded neatly and bubble wrapped, as well as a small bag of hardware. The small hardware bag (which was sandwiched inside the folded and wrapped frame) was somehow torn open, and some of the hardware was loose in the box. I almost discarded the box with 2 washers still inside it. Not sure if that was a freak incident or indicative of their packaging. You should be careful to check for small parts before throwing out the box.

Setup was very simple. You unfold the frame at the middle, then swing down the legs at each end until they snap into place. Next it was a simple matter of bolting the two frames together. There are small holes towards either end of the frame, run a screw through the hole, place a plastic space on the screw, run the screw through the corresponding hole on the 2nd frame, slip on a washer, and screw on the bolt. We've used this frame for about 8 months now. I like to thoroughly consider products before I review them.

Before ordering this, I read the negative reviews, and the only concern was the squeaking. I figured I'd take my chances, as I really wanted to both skip the box spring, and have lots of under bed storage. When we received it and set it up, everything seemed great. It was silent for the first week. Over the course of the next couple weeks, it started squeaking with every little move, and kept getting louder and louder. I was concerned that I should have listened to the negative reviews, but thought I'd attempt a solution. I used some light grease on the hinge points where the legs folded, and it went completely silent. Shocked at how well it worked, I figured it was too good to be true, and I'd have to re-grease it every few days or something. Nope! 7 months later, and it's still completely quiet. If it ever starts making noise again, it would take 1 minute to re-lube the hinges. Concerning the lubricant, don't use something like wd-40. Make sure to use a light grease that won't drip or "dry out". I'm sure most would do, but I specifically used this product because it's worked on many other items for me in the past, and it worked great:
Tetra Grease

It has been great having so much space under the bed. Plenty of space to tuck away things like laundry baskets, boxes, etc. We added a bed skirt to it, and it looks like any other standard bed with low frame and box springs.

We've paired it with this memory foam mattress also purchased through Amazon. They've both been great items.Read more ›
