I didn't want to spend the amount on a smasung smart cover and besides, i didn't like the idea of scratching the back side of the samsung smart case even if I got it. So looking around, i saw this case and Poetic being a sort of renowned accessory company along with their 3 yr warranty tilted me in their favor instead of the generic chinese ones.

Upon receiving this case, it looked well made and fit my GS4 correctly. The camera on the back has some clearance due to the case and it seems to be well protected. One thing you notice is that there is no recess/cutout for the volume keys since it falls on the inside of the flap. To me its a slight bother since you need to kind of guess where the volume keys are but once you are familiar, you can easily press thru the case to adjust volume. All the other cutouts for charging, power and volume are properly provisioned along with the earphone and mic slots. The screen on the flipbook case is plastic and when i received it, it wasn't crystal clear per se but didn't havea problem when viewing time and notifications on the screen.

The best part i like the case for and also the GS4 was the smart cover feature. The small screen works very well and when you close the flap, it falls back to a small display visible from the cover screen. You can see incoming calls and answer them from this cover screen itself and can finish your conversations since the mic and earpiece slots are accessible even when the flap is close.
The phone recognizes this smart cover and readjusts the display, so no issues with that.

The only things that is a bother to me though and with most flipbook cases are that they don't close fully. There is always a slight gap between the phone and the cover near the outer edges.Read more ›

I bought two of these for my Galaxy S4s. At first I was disappointed because of the cases did not stay closed but after calling the manufacturer they replaced the case immediately. I was impressed with this. Now after 3 months the cases are falling apart. The edges are pulling up and paint is flaking off it. Also the window is totally scratched up. The manufacturer again offer to replace these under warranty but I am not sure if it is worth paying for return shipping. I think it might be cheaper to just buy a different case.

I just upgraded from a Samsung SIII to the S4. I had the Samsung flip case on the S3 and had gotten used to it, so I decided to get one - the new windowed "S-view" one for the S4 until I saw the price for the Samsung model and I'd had bad luck with the cheap Chinese knockoffs. Then I found the Poetic Flipbook Case and thought I'd take a chance and I'm glad I did. It's a very sturdy case, soft material covers the inside body and flap, it snaps nicely around the corners of the phone (providing good drop protection), it protective flap wakes up the phone when you open it and the smart "S-view" window feature works flawlessly when you close it, as well as activating S-View touch features - so you can answer or reject calls without opening the case flap. It's also very thin and light, so it did not add much to the overall thickness of the S4 or its weight. The only slight negative I can find is that the cover finish could be a little more "grippy", but it does slide nicely in and out of my pockets, which a grippier case might not do...so just a very minor comment. Overall, I'd give it 4.5 stars. I'd say it's the best inexpensive case out there for the S4, if you're in the market for an S-view flipbook model. Frankly, I think it provides much more protection for the phone than the Samsung factory S-view, which is just a plastic battery cover and screen flap, because the Poetic wraps the entire phone and provides more of a security blanket - and you sure can't beat the price!

I spent an absurd amount of time looking for the right case for my new Samsung Galaxy S4. Prices ranging from $50 to $2.99...claims about safety, ease of use, bulk/size, etc. Finally...this one got chosen. The price was right - if I didn't like it I wouldn't be out a ton of money. The protection was there, but access remained. I can answer calls without opening it. I don't watch vids on my phone enough to need a prop to hold it up - I just didn't want to spend the better part of the next two years with a crack on my screen. Again. And this is exactly what I wanted. Protection...it is discreet...easy to on&off...best bang for not many bucks! Wish it had come in white to match my phone...but that's small potatoes.

I got this case for my s4, and bottom line is it doesn't fit perfectly in the case. The top left corner always pops out for me. I actually pushed hard enough to get the phone in securely, and ended up breaking the LCD under the glass of my s4. Samsung is fixing for free, but have to got 3 weeks without a phone.

I completely blame it on this case. Not sure if I got a badly made case or what, but my Sprint Galaxy S4 does not fit completely securely in the case. It fits in, but always pops out a bit on top left corner.

The cover cannot stay closed. It also keeps waking the phone up while the cover is over the touch screen. The shell for the handset is much more flimsy than the description and pictures would lead one to believe. It most likely will not protect the phone if it is dropped. Don't waste your money. The return postage is too big a chunk of the refund to make returning it worthwhile. Cheap peace of junk!
