These are the recommended feeding amounts based on the ideal body condition for adult cats of various weights. Individual cats’ energy requirements may differ. Finding the right balance between cost, quality, and cat acceptance is hard.

Cats will eat low quality food made by a big manufacturer because they spend a lot of time and money figuring out how to get cats to eat food that isn't particularly good for them. The result is inexpensive food that cats will eat, but that I wouldn't want to feed them.

Cats will usually accept high quality food, provided it costs enough to bankrupt you. But I have found that they often turn their nose up at some of the better but modestly priced food.

Well, my cats will eat this food. It is not top shelf, and they don't fight each other to eat it either. But it strikes a balance between health, price, and cat acceptance. I am not excited to buy it, feed it to them, and they are not excited to eat it. But I don't feel guilty feeding it to them, and can afford it. And since they get some really great wet food twice a day, I figure they can deal with a more blah dry food anyway.

My cats have been raised on Nutro. For quite some time Pet Smart has only had Nutro indoor cat food which is much cheaper on amazon than Pet Smart. I was buying 10 bags and getting 1 for free. I was buying a bag every 2 months. Now I am getting Nutro Natural Choice for the same price as indoor cat food at Pet Smart and it's automatically sent every 2 months. My cats only come in at night so they must need a different food because I don't even have to call them to come in in the evening. They are standing at the door and I don't have to worry about a cat being eaten by a coyote or something because they would rather stay outside at night and hunt than eat the other food. Bugs must taste better than the other cat food.

This is very high quality catfood, on the same level as Blue Buffalo, but cheaper. All of my cats love it and they are healthy and happy and have shiny coats. I have been feeding Nutro Natural Choice for years. Their kitten food is great too.

This is my go-to cat food. My cat Kipi loves it, and meows VERY loudly when I'm in the process of refilling his bowl.

I used to buy a small bag at the pet store but buying this bigger size on Amazon with Prime shipping is SO MUCH BETTER!

I have been purchasing this product for just under a year. Several kitten litters have found their way to me, and I decided to do my best to give them the best start possible before handing them off to their forever families. I will admit that this particular kitten food is quite pricey. However, this was the best kitten food I could find, and all the kittens I have cared for and/or fostered have tolerated this kitten food. This includes several kittens that arrived on my doorstep in severe need of intervention--both medical and psychological. One particular kitten had to be started on boiled, pureed lamb and rice; but the kitten--once healthier--transitioned very nicely to this kitten food. However, it can be noted when I first started to transition/supplement this kitten food with kittens who were still nursing occasionally, I watched some of the kittens struggled to chew the dry food. So I mixed in milk replacer, the dry food, and water to “soften” the dry food. I think once the kittens lose their milk teeth, they will be perfectly fine with this food. I just wish the price wouldn't keep increasing. Nutro does not have a rewards program to offset the high price of their products, so many of the forever families plan to switch out this kitten food with something else.

Note: When I can, I do try to purchase Nutro products for some of the older, rescue cats; and they seem to do well on those, too.

I bought this for my 4 month old kitten. I mostly purchased it to improve the odor of her poo. I didn't notice her liking it or disliking it particularly. I gave her 1/3 of a cup the first day and she took to it right away...then I mixed it half and half with her old food to get rid if it and transition her. I must say it seems to have made a difference in her poo odor - even though it's mixed with her old food.

In comparing food, price was certainly a concern. The smell improvement alone was worth it. When considering the cost, also consider the serving size. It seems like this isn't that expensive after all.
