This is really about the sound, when it strikes. The padding won't cause discomfort, but it sounds fierce. Now, the other side will cause a sharp pain, but nothing different than a typical paddle. There is a hard cardboard inside, wrapped in the leather-like material so just be careful to not bend it. It doesn't have the weight I would expect if it had been a wood board instead. I could be wrong...but it's lighter than I imagined, but still very effective.

A little louder than I would like, but very nice. Doesn't leave marks unless you are really trying to achieve specifically that. I have left some blood blister type "hickies" from it, but that was after repeated strikes. The contour of the striking side is such that it doesn't leave outlines or shapes, which I like. Very pleased.

I think this paddle is adorable and I enjoy having it in my collection, but its only for play really. I thought it would be a little thicker, but in all reality its got a cardboard consistency under the leather. NOT very sturdy and doesn't even leave a little sting. I wanted this for serious spanking and for the $12 I paid for it that's what I expected. Its cute for chasing around the bedroom and little joking plays but when it comes down to it it's not for any intense encounters.
