I actually bought mine on eBay and assembled it from various working parts (for around less than two hundred dollars total, mind you), and must admit that I'm really in love with this machine.

To begin with, I previously owned a Thinkpad x120e; a slightly smaller machine with a Dual-Core AMD E-350 processor and integrated Radeon HD 6310 (I believe they're referred to as APU's by AMD). The Thinkpad x120e was a real trooper, handling all my basic tasks with finesse. I also used it for light gaming, and found that Oblivion, New Vegas, Fable, F.E.A.R, and a few other games ran decently when well optimized.

It didn't run a lot of the games I really wanted to play, though. Such as Tomb Raider, Crusader Kings II, Europa Universalis IV, etc. And beyond that, the x120e's AMD CPU ran HOT! I'm talking about idling at 60 C and regularly reaching temperatures approaching 80 C under load. In comes the next generation x131e I assembled; and wha-la, not only is the machine nearly twice as powerful, but my max temps don't tend to exceed 65 C, and the machine idles at 48 C. On top of that, many of the games I mentioned above that couldn't run now run flawlessly (as well as Mirror's Edge, which I enjoy a lot). Like the Thinkpad x120e before it, it can run Photoshop CS6, Firefox with a dozen tabs open, and Microsoft Excel at a brisk pace. Unlike netbooks, it can also be loaded with 8 GB's of RAM.

Admittedly these machines are presumably "Chromebooks". That's probably in a bid to use them as student machines and keep costs very low. It doesn't justify their surprisingly high cost. A 16 GB SSD is nothing; my machine didn't come with a hard drive at all, but I immediately put a 240 GB SSD and Windows 8 into it. It runs like a dream and cold boots in ~10 seconds.

Even though this laptop is stated as a chromebook with a 16gb ssd, the version I received via fulfilled by Amazon came with windows 7 pro and a 500gb hgst hard drive installed. It was a brand new version never opened and sealed by lenovo in its lenovo box.

For me this was nice and i didn't mind because I bought it to install arch linux on and have a extremely nice linux netbook.

But for those wanting chrome os watch out. Lenovo made like four different configurations of this laptop. One with chrome os and three with windows. 7 starter, 7 pro, and 8. And either an Intel or amd processor. Mine was Intel.

Mine also came with a at&t sim card installed and 4gb of ram. Again, some configs either just come with the sim slot with no card installed while others come with it installed. Some also come with either 2gb or 4gb of ram.

It also came with a broadcom wifi adapter and a realteck Ethernet. Again some come with a realtec WiFi, Intel WiFi, or a broadcom.

It has a sim card slot, msata, and a regular hard drive slot. You can have both a ssd and a hard drive. Or two ssds. Just remember the hard drive slot can only fit a 7mm max size 2.5in drive. You can also upgrade the ram to 8gb, which I did with two crucial 4gb ddr3 1600 sticks.

Battery life is great. I get about 7 - 8 hours out of it. Don't let the little 15 watt celeron fool you. It might not be a blazing i5 but has plenty of power for everything you would except a netbook to do. HD movie playblack, music, web browsing, libreoffice / word, and such. The celeron is an ivybridge based with the performance of a first generation nehalem mobile processor.

This netbook is built like a tank. Rubber grommet that protects the edge of the display is a super plus.

So this laptop apparently has a manufacturer defect, which happens at the left hinge. The plastic base that holds the hing in place is prone to breaking off, and now your laptop will just flop around which the right side tries to hold all the weight.

Obviously this is a very annoying problem, and probably would bringthis device to 1 star. I searched online "x131e hing issue" and a quick google search return a bunch of angry IT technician at schools, so this is kind of a known issue, except since it's not targeted at business customer like the T series or bigger X series, it didn't really get much attention, and Lenovo does not offer recall or repair outside of the usual warranty period.

So my solution was drill three small holes in the bottom of the base, where plastic pieces broke off, and add three M2 x16mm bolts to firmly attach the hinge to the base part of keyboard. It's not difficult, and Lenovo provide detailed assembly instruction to make sure you can safely access the hinges yourself.

Overall, I am still satisfied with this chromebook, this offer you the reliable keyboard experience you get from Thinkpads, with the simplicity of chromebook. That's why I still give this laptop three stars. If anything else happens, or my solution fails, then my opinion might change.

I am an avid Thinkpad user, I have T530 for work, and a X230 at home and my days as engineering university students.
