I've had this Tesoro Durandal G1NL keyboard for about a month. I am not a pro typist by any means, but I do type a bit, for reviews like this one. To be fair I'm writing this on my iPad, ironic. Back to the Durandal, it is one fine keyboard. As listed in the specs it uses Cherry Brown switches. There are numerous websites that will fully explain the differences between the different Cherry switches. The color coded switches each have different feedback. The colors are Red Blue Black and Brown. Google it and you will find lots of information on this topic.

I haven't had a fully mechanical keyboard since my original IBM PC with it's classic keyboard. That one had "bucking springs" technology. The Model M from the IBM Model AT is the holy grail of classic keyboards. Given the long life of mechanical switches, 50 million keystrokes is claimed, it's not uncommon to refurbish classic old keyboards.

The Durandal is well built and heavy, about three pounds. It sits on the table solidly thanks to good rubber pads on its underside, the flip up rear legs have a rubber base too. It doesn't have extra macro or multimedia keys so the footprint on you desk is neat and tight. The multimedia function are via the Fn key in combination with some function keys. Since this is considered a gaming keyboard the Windows Key can be toggled vis Fn-F12. Unlike some gaming keyboards the Windows Key is present with the Flag legend, and is on by default, you decide to disable it. (I'm talking to you CM Storm!) there is included some software to create macros and profiles to download into the keyboard. I don't really game and haven't test this out yet. If I do I'll amend this review.

Why I bought it: My wife spilled soda on old Logitech Keyboard. I always found my old keyboard had way too many "gamer" buttons to the left. So much so, My keyboard tray could barely hold it. I wanted to find a good mechanical keyboard that wasn't too loud. I heard MX Brown Switches are the best in that regard. I also wanted USB ports and an audio passthrough would be a bonus. I have grown accustom to backlit, so it needed that as well.

Pros:
-Solid weight, doesn't seem fragile in the slightest.
- Braided cable works almost too well (still stiff and hard to conform)
-Two USB passthroughs
-Audio passthrough
-Cool Design
-Types really well.

Neutrals
-Coming from a membrane keyboard it still seems really loud. Some keys more than others. (mostly left hand and spacebar).
-It seems offcenter to how I type. Not sure if this is because old keyboard was more centered or what. This one is hard to describe.

Con:
-Windows Key is on the left, so I have to use two hands to do a Windows+L to lock my PC
- Function key is on the lower right, which causes two hands to be needed to adjust media keys.
-Audio passthrough location means the headphone wire dangles on your hand.
-USB Passthrough is low amps, so not good for charging your phone. (I read so many keyboards that I mixed a capability of another with this one)
-Backspace button is supersensitive and almost always presses it twice when I press it once.

I've owned this keyboard for a few months and so far it's been great.

I did a lot of filtering/research for my new mechanical and had a few requirements:
- Brown Switches
- Non-TKL (Ten Key Less)
- Back lighting
- A logical layout of the body
- All keys must be their regular/normal size and layout.

I wasn't overall picky about the stabilizers, although Costar would be a nice bonus for whatever I picked.

The Ducky Shine (especially the Shine II) definitely met all the requirements and was what I originally wanted to get, but it was completely sold out at the time and I needed a new keyboard (old one was broken, I was running on some free board). I highly recommend the Ducky to anyone who is looking for a keyboard, and my roommate bought one a couple days back, but the Durandal has been great too.

When I got the Durandal on amazon it was about 60% of its current price at the time of this review, and if you can find it in the low 100s it's an absolute steal.

I had considered the CM Storm Trigger CM Storm Trigger - Fully Backlit Mechanical Gaming Keyboard with Brown CHERRY MX Switches (SGK-6000-GKCM1-US), but I couldn't get over the break in the bezel along the bottom. If that's not an issue then that is also a great keyboard.

Deck makes some awesome boards also, but they will cost quite a bit more than the Durandal or the Ducky.

The Durandal feels great, it's highly responsive, and has NKRO over USB.

I have just a few minor complaints:
