The air does seem better when I put this new filter in.
Before, my Alen kept showing it was in the red with my other filter that came with the unit.
It was a new filter...but kepts showing RED which is the color to indicate the air is horrible and it will try to fix it up.
Well after I put this filter in, the light stopped turning red and stayed a cool blue color for most of the time. The highest I seen the colors go up with this filter is, was the color Orange which means the air is so so...
It does take care of smell too. Not sure if it will clean up all the air if you are doing some heaving cooking around the house...but keep it on long enough and it does help neutralize any food smell or other

I can't really tell the difference between one filter or the other. For me, they all work great. I do notice that my allergies are better with a new filter, however I can't honestly say on is better than another, I just can't tell the difference.

Replaced the original filter that came with this unit after three months. We have three cats and with repeated washing of the outer filter ,it was not functioning as well as at first.Can they be purchases separately? I vacuumed them both regularly (twice weekly) and it still showed "red" often. Hoping this will alleviate the dust/dander . Other than all is working fantastic.

This filter works very well, however, there is usually a 'hot' smell which may be from some of the material it is made from. I have read in previous posts that it is from the plastic that holds it together. It does clean the air quickly, especially when I am cooking. If it didn't have that smell it would be perfect. I also noticed this smell from the original filter when I purchased the air purifier, so I think it has to do how the filter is made.

We really love our BreatheSmart Air Purifier. They are expensive and it took me a while to pull the trigger but it has made a huge difference in our home. We have dogs and one has allergies. The BreatheSmart with the Silver filter reduced the dog smell, pet dander/dust and our allergy dog is less itchy.
