I bought this for the purpose of removing tobacco smells when we have visitors who smoke stay.
Maybe it is just my family but we are very sensitive to the smell of tobacco and have had occasions when people stay that even not smoking in the house, the residual smell on clothing seems to linger in our spare room.

I did a heap of research and was convinced short of having an industrial air conditioner installed or asking our visitors to wear biohazard outfits whilst smoking then this was a problem I would just have to learn to deal with.

That said the Honeywell HEPA tower did state it would address tobacco particles and so I gave it a go.
To my utter shock it completely worked for us and after 2 weeks of a heavy smoker staying with us, no smell residue at all (and there had been before when they stayed).

I will say it was a little more noisy than could mean it could be left on during the night, but we politely asked our guest to keep it on during the day (on low setting) and it caused no disturbance at all. (I often take conference calls in that room and the noise is not audible on the calls which seem to pick up ever pin drop, but in dead of night clearly was a little too much.)

The drop in one star is for the little bit of noise - but otherwise cannot fault the fact it did exactly what we needed.

This is one of the few actual HEPA air purifiers from honywell and it works very well. I believe this is the mid range model and i have it set up in a 12 by 12 room and it works great and moves a lot of air. Not only circulating air and reducing "stuffiness" but removing allergens as well. If you have allergies from dust or animal dander of fur i recommend this.

This machine has definitely helped us breathe easy through the night. Touch screen controls are very nice. Filter lasts a longgg time. I am very happy with this purchase and would recommend it to anyone who wakes up feeling stuffy from dust/germs around the house. I bought this for my two infants who seemed to be extra stuffy at the night time while they slept. This has definitely helped (make sure you run this machine a few hours before the kids go to sleep to ensure the air is clean before you put them to bed). If you have carpeted floors, don't forget to vacuum regularly.

I have a very dusty house and this worked great for cleaning the dust and "stuffiness" out of the air but after about a month one of the fans in it started making a high-pitch noise like it was going to go out. I ended up returning it but it did work pretty well so I am considering purchasing again, I'm just a little worried about the quality after the first one.

This air cleaner works great! I placed it in our family room where our ceiling fan would always have tons of dust/lint on the fan blades in a week of operation. After putting this cleaner in the room and cleaning the fan blades, there's still no buildup on the fan blades after 2 weeks of operation. This air cleaner does the job well!

It's a great size and shape for tight spaces, but the filters are small for it's size and price. I've also got one of the circular floor air purifiers from honeywell, which was less expensive and has much more filter surface area.

I like to run an air purifier at night in my bedroom to help clean the air and also provide some white noise. It helps my husband sleep better, as he has ringing in his ears. I actually bought this unit from Target, so the model number is a bit different. This unit works ok, but has a high pitched whine that bothers me enough that I can only run it on low speed, where the whine is tolerable. On higher speeds the whine is too loud and bothers me. It would probably be fine if I only ran it during the day, but for sleeping I think this tower unit is too noisy. I had an older model that was bigger and round, and there was little if any whine. I also have a large rectangular shaped unit in my family room and do not notice any whine with it. I think I will avoid the tower shape in the future in hopes of avoiding noise.

As far as cleaning the air, I don't think it does much on low speed for dust collection. We don't smoke so I cannot address that.
