Perfect until it died out of nowhere

Let me start by saying that this is hands down one of THE best things I have purchased for my child. She adores this music player!! We purchased it with the expectation that we would add our own music and voice recordings but we liked the preprogrammed material so much (especially the piano music) that we left what it came with. She uses it nightly. This week, after 5 months of use, it stopped. It won't charge or power on. We are SO disappointed. There has been no contact to help with repairing or replacing it. Really disappointing given the cost of this toy. I understand they are in early stages as a business and I hope once they are on their feet they will have better customer service.

This is a cute toy for little ones, but the instructions were pretty vague. The remote is a little tricky to figure out..especially since it's not even mentioned in the manual. Fully charged, it lasts ~4-6 hrs while playing with the ears on. It comes preloaded with songs and stories, but it's also really easy to upload new songs and stories (available on their website or your own)

Sturdy exterior, cheap components

Surprisingly it has survived many drops but the quality of the inside parts is pretty low. Within a few weeks the usb plug got loose and had to be held in place with a rubber band or else no connection could be made for charging or copying files. I was able to open it and bend some metal to fix that (at serious risk of doing permanent damage) but after about six months the battery seemed to be totally cooked and would not hold a charge. Right now it will only power up when unplugged, but you have to plug it in right away after that or else it will shut down within a few minutes. Going to try to find a new battery online but not too hopeful. I do remember a line in the manual about not overcharging it but it's not really practical to keep track and unplug it every time the charge is complete. More or better hardware would eliminate this problem.
